Rars belong back in the days when we had slow connections, and particularly dialup connections, P2P paradigms that only allowed downloading a file from one source at a time, hence a lot of queueing, therefore making it unlikely that we would get the change to download the entire file in one go before losing the connection to the peer. You could then see which rars you had completed and which were missing and then go download the rest of the pieces from another source. This is no longer necessary as download speeds are so much faster and P2P does hashing, and error correction natively so we dont really need rars. Unless it's from a torrent source with very few peers and may go offline at any minute so you'll need to go find the remaining parts from another P2P application.
