Just to answer a few questions I've had about this:
- This works on both Windows and OS X as the file is handled by iTunes, and is therefore independent of the OS.
- You can use this on a previously jailbroken Touch as the software is restored before it is installed. I recommend you back up your settings in iTunes if you don't want to have to manually change everything after the install.
- The App Store works fine.

heyy..... thanks man..... I was looking for this a while ago...... my ipod touch is 1.1.4 !!!! if i install this and in my ipod touch and restore it will my version go back to 1.1.4!!!!!!!???? Thanks... btw firs to comment!!!

peu4000 (2008-07-11)

Is this the 5a345 firmware or 5a347.
5a345 is a beta version NOT the final version.

peu4000 (2008-07-11)

This is not the final version. Wait until the 5a347 version comes out.

Cain303 (2008-07-11)

Supposedly 5A345 is exactly the same as 5A347

onetwothreefloor (2008-07-11)

If you don't trust 5A345 you can still get 5A347 for free after downloading and installing this.
All you need to do is connect the Touch by USB while it is in DFU mode. When iTunes opens, select Restore and it will download and install 5A347 for you.
Enjoy.

onetwothreefloor (2008-07-11)

Alright, I just found this:
http://content.info.apple.com/ProtectedAsset/iPod/osx/bundles/061-4957.20080711.Fr43E/iPod1,1_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw

You can download the final build directly from the Apple website. No need for this torrent now, really.

peu4000 (2008-07-11)

Apple fails.

Cain303 (2008-07-11)

I just came across this. Thought it would be of interest.
iPhone 3G is shipping with build 5A345. 5A347 is a build that was never intended for a production environment, and certainly not for installation on the original iPhone! As I mentioned earlier, it was built to be installed on iPhone 3G development test units only (note, I did not say production units), and has not been tested or designed for the original iPhone.
Build 5A347 contains a significant amount of debug code and that is, in part, the reason for the slowdowns iPhone classic users are seeing. As also mentioned previously, when 32k of debug data is collected, the build is designed to dump the data to a location which no production iPhone supports, and hence you're seeing timeouts while the write process attempts to do its job.
As far as other slowdowns are concerned, any time iPhone 3G specific code attempts to execute (location, contacts, pictures, and web are the most prevalent) a timeout is going to occur, and this will be seen to the end user as a momentary freeze. As presented by others earlier, while the code base is the same between the original iPhone and iPhone 3G 2.0 software, 5A345 has code modules active which can detect which hardware it is running on (touch, iPhone original, iPhone 3G, etc.) and handle certain cases appropriately, given the hardware, and thereby prevent the momentary slowdowns that some users are seeing.
In plain English what I am saying:
- 5A345 does not have the slowdowns some users are seeing.
- Furthermore, 5A347, the build which many on here are now running was not designed for anything but iPhone 3G developmental units. That is to say, running it on the original iPhone is not a tested or intended platform.
- Slowdowns that users are seeing are caused specifically by running an incorrect version of the firmware on unsupported units.
I hope that this information helps clear up some lingering questions.

Iamvenom (2008-07-12)

Does installing this brick or damage your iPod touch? anyone else tried already?

germanator (2008-07-12)

good stuff, works great for me. apple was really starting to piss me off.

sirus2400 (2008-07-12)

Any success stories?

toct53 (2008-07-12)

Success. Perfect so far. Went through most everything. YouTube works, Remote works amazingly, Safari works, Mail re-downloaded my emails, calculator has the scientific thing, search is in contacts, weatherbug is awesome, movies.app was cool, facebook/myspace works, Settings updated to add the new Apps settings...
Plus, it took literally 5 minutes to download and install.
No problems here. I was willing to pay $10.00 but Apple took their sweet time. Sucks, especially since I work for them.

toct53 (2008-07-12)

Okay, I have to add that Remote is AMAZING. My Mac Pro and AppleTV controlled by one device. I'm gonna get fat.

britishcolumbia (2008-07-12)

thefsxflyer (2008-07-12)

Thanks so much! I am downloading now I litterly spent 2 hours restoring my ipod because I jail broke mine and I was afraid it would mess it up and found out that you have to pay. I am not paying for it. I will pay for the apps though. Well, not any over 5 bucks. Apple just takes advantage of people by selling there stuff at outrageous rates but they know people will pay for it

itouchfans (2008-07-12)

youre right thefsxflyer.....
Apple sells products that can only use their own OS for example.... now they have made a laptop that you can use windows but have you seen any windows laptop with the mac os on it? ofcourse not...... they are that wise.... Its just for every update or upgrade you probably need to pay.... which is irritating!!!!

clpa07 (2008-07-12)

works fine. but cannot transfer my music and movies to my ipod. are try to slide over and it has a circle slash

thefsxflyer (2008-07-12)

Ok guys.
1. installing the new itunes will lock up if you plug in your touch.(I think only for windows though) Do not shut it down. Just give it a chance. Apple will need ANOTHER update for it(probably have to pay so they get there money) Right now when I am writing this comment I have only open it once
2. This torrent works just fine and it is sweet. For me it took a long time to install.(actually, faster to download) The update works just fine and I suggest if you have jailbroken yours I might just restore it and do it just for safety and before you do make sure you get all your music on your computer. I had to reput everything on after the update.
BTW if any one wants to know Apple is a bunch of shit. When I bought my ipod, the guy said "all apple hardware comes with the latest updates" Well, guess what. I get home and I have 1.1.2 and 1.1.4 had come out a long time ago. I had to update through all that.
Thank you for uploading onetwothreefloor!!! Saved me 10 dollars!!! Thanks!
Works great!

thefsxflyer (2008-07-12)

clpa07:
You have to check the box where it says manually manage music and videos
make sure it is checked and not unchecked

clpa07 (2008-07-12)

haha thanks. yeah i forgot about that! So is this the final version? Or is every version pretty much the same thing?

fr3nchr0ckst4r (2008-07-12)

i lost all my musics, videos and photos though but it was defenetly wort it!
you saved me 8 euros! :D

thefsxflyer (2008-07-13)

WARNING TO ALL:
BACK UP YOUR IPOD BEFORE YOU DO THIS. YOU WILL HAVE TO PUT YOUR MUSIC BACK ON AFTER

TheNKVD (2008-07-13)

I am installing right now!

TheNKVD (2008-07-13)

This is really good! Appstore works well and the new calculator is really cool.

MrGrimReaper (2008-07-13)

Any reason if I try to restore, it gives me an error saying "The requested resource was not found." Any ideas? Is that the deal with Apple and their bugs, or this file?

nUDiE<3 (2008-07-13)

Just bought my touch like 4 days ago, so Im trying this out now.
Hopefully it works fine.
Thanks for the upload!!
:)
Btw, have a n00bie-question about putting pics on the iPod Touch and I know it says in the manual to use like Photoshop Elements 3.0 or later. (! I'm using a PC !)
But I've only got Photoshop CS3 and I seriously don't know how to put pics on the Touch with it.
PLEASE! Help a n00b in need! ;3
Once again, ty for up!

ronjon13 (2008-07-14)

you add photos through itunes by syncing up the folder of your choice

Iamvenom (2008-07-14)

anyone else notice your iPod touch randomly restarts sometimes after installing this?

MonkeyFeet (2008-07-14)

Yeah like, ive gone to open an app and it just restarts itself.
I guess thats just apple's software for you though, Probs have to wait a couple of months for them to fixs the bugs in it =/ and mabye they'll jack the price upto $20 for it too.

assassinspartan (2008-07-14)

Hi,
I was wondering if you have to pay for the apps with this download...thanks!

MonkeyFeet (2008-07-14)

Look in the itunes store at the apps. The free ones you can get for free, the ones with prices next to them you'll have to pay for.

Iamvenom (2008-07-15)

@ JakesterX: No the file can be anywhere saved on your harddrive.

what-the-FLAVEN (2008-07-15)

To those who are saying it's not working or are getting errors remember to update itunes to 7.7

Dark_LawlbStar (2008-07-15)

cjbriare (2008-07-16)

There is absolutely no difference in the firmware for ipod touch or iphone (except the phone part) that would cause it to be $10. Thanks for posting!

buckypatches (2008-07-17)

Hey, this worked great for me, my only problem is that the Remote application isn't working properly. I get as far as entering the passcode in iTunes, but after a few seconds my computer makes that stubborn "boop" sound, the numbers on iTunes clear, and nothing happens. I looked all over Apple support for a solution and found nothing. I'm wondering if maybe it's related to me having an illicit copy of the upgrade. Is anyone else having problems with the Remote?

benjaminajacobs (2008-07-17)

I keep getting told "The iPod "iPod" could not be updated. An unknown error occurred. (1611)."
Then my iPod freezes up and I have to restore back to version 1.15. Help?

RazorR (2008-07-18)

Works fine for me. Thanks!

MonkeyFeet (2008-07-18)

I've had the firmware upgrade for a day now and now when I try to plug my iPod into the computer it says it can't detect data from it and it's somehow corrupted. I can't restore either. It just says "The requested resource was not found." Help?

Beonaam (2008-07-21)

I restarted my computer and my problem went away. Nevermind. :P

kymmer (2008-07-26)

cause i dont have an itunes account but ui want to get the free apps

MonkeyFeet (2008-07-27)

@Double0KneeGrow
Thats because its phone you fucking retard, you pay for the service of being able to use the phone and data transfer for the internet when your not near a wifi, like you do with your home phone. So if we want to complain about it we can so fuck off.
@kymmer
You need to have an itunes account. Yes even for the free apps, It downloads it though your account and doesnt charge you for it. just go into your itunes and find the create account somewhere.

kymmer (2008-07-27)

ok thanks

In mac OS X, use the ALT-button...

HollowTips (2008-08-25)

i have absolutely no idea how to add this onto my ipod touch...i restored it for no reason and lost all the songs on it and everything and im still at the original software....this makes no sense to me since the only option i get when i go to click update is to either buy it or cancel it.... i use windows vista..someone help please

Norax (2008-08-30)

For those of you on a Mac:
1) Download firmware
2) Open iTunes, and click 'Restore' while holding 'alt'
3) Select the firmware you downloaded.
If you want firmware 2.0.2:
1) Follow the steps above
2) Enter DFU mode: connect your iPod, then hold down the Sleep and Home button together for 10 seconds.
3) Release the Sleep button, but continue to hold the Home button.
4) iTunes will recognize the iPod in recovery mode, and ask if you would like to restore and upgrade.
5) iTunes will download firmware 2.0.2 and load it onto your iPod.
