@bikybay SaM upped the best dvd sized version of Avatar you will ever find. FASM is the last stop for movie quality equal to uncompressed rips twice in file size ~8GB. Anything else in non-HD is already out there and cannot be made better than it already is.

FASM rips have about the same quality as 540p I've set my player up like they suggested compared to other AVATAR versions and that's what I came up with. This version lacks a ridiculous amount of detail especially in the darker parts. The colors are also not that good. Too bad though.

Calling Avatar "Pocahontas with CGI" is a pretty good comparison, but do you know those demo-discs that were made when dvd-players, surround-sound, and blu-ray each came out? They were made to really show the capabilities of the new tech and were just a mix of sounds and effects to demonstrate how the new stuff is better than the old. Exactly like those except it cost a billion dollars to make.

true the transcoder coulda waited till the AVATAR in big green letters was on the screen.

Wow. Okay so I had high expectations. Too high apparently. I have a 1080p monitor. 1920x1080 resolution. The video doesn't fill the entire screen, as it should. The pixels are horrible. And some of the comments say that this is good? Well, you've clearly never seen a blu ray film. I have movies in 720 from the 1970s that look better than this. That's pretty sad. In conclusion, this is fugly, and a far cry from what it should be.

I really can't believe that this plays with no credits. Please let the credits play. I'm a sound mixer and always appreciate seeing the credits.
Also, since I'm commenting. A lot of people work on films that don't make millions. I myself make about 65 grand a year. Which is like making about 30 grand if you don't live in LA. Budgets for movies and TV is slipping constantly. The audio post house where I work is constantly having to make cuts to keep costs down. That means that the talented people that make the movies and TV shows, the albums, these works of art that you love will eventually not be getting paid. I agree, theater tickets are overpriced now, but part of that is to compensate for the amount of theft that goes on. If you do not buy movie tickets, pay for the movies you keep, etc., eventually movies won't have the budget to make life like CGI, which takes a ton of talented artists to pull off, and you won't see things like Avatar at the theaters. Trust me, in the long run, stealing is going to hurt you and the people that work on films like this, or television, or music, or any commercial art. Please do your part to keep this alive and pay for what you use.
As a last note, if you think that we're all rich working on this, trust me, we're not. It's only really big actors and really big producers/directors who are rich from doing this, and they deserve it. For the most part, the people who rose to those positions earned it through talent and hard work. All the rest of us who work on projects they're connected with are lucky to do so. And, you're lucky to live in an age when art like that is so prevalent and accessible. Please don't ruin it by stealing. Pay for what you use.
