The Nai is the Romanian panflute, In old times the preferred solo instrument of the gypsy-taraf. A lot of famous panflutists from our time has come from the romanian tradition. Zamfir is the first one that springs into ones mind. But Damian Luca has also been quite succesfull doing "International" easy listening stuff - and movie soundtracks(!). The Damian Luca and Dorel Manea records included in this torrent is typical electrecord sound with the occasional dangerously gypsy sounding tune. Fănică Luca is the Godfather of Nai, introducing the instrument in the golden era of 'Bucharest-Tango' or early sub-urban lauteasca.
