chookymeister (2008-03-14)

hey i have a problem. so far everything i've tried have worked except for windowsblinds. it won't let me patch the .dll. i always make sure to terminate windowblinds process on task manager but it always says in use when i try to patch. means i can't actually use windows blinds so very annoying. help greatly appreciated

ssamnine (2008-03-15)

chookymeister- if you're using vista you might have to right click on the window blinds task, in your task manager, and click 'run as administrator' or however it words it, then u should be able to close it

Malevolentglitter (2008-03-17)

Downloaded super fast and came out clean according to NOD32. Thank you so much!

Malevolentglitter (2008-03-17)

I'm having some trouble, help. For Window Blinds, I install the patch, then run the installation? If I do that will it still ask me to activate it, and if yes then I use the serial the key gen gave? Thanks

sevenbros (2008-03-20)

Hey chookymeister, here is the solution for your problem with patching windows blinds.
It is very easy!
Patching Steps:
1) After install of software go to processes by pressing ctrl+alt+del and kill the one which is responsible for windows blinds.
2)After that copy the patch into the program folder from Program Files and apply the patch.
3) Run the windows blinds and it will ask you to reboot. Press REBOOT!!!
Finish :)

Scaned this with AVG anti-virus and it found that the following files:
Stardock-ObjectDock-Plus-1.90.535u-EMBRACE.rar

Stardock-ObjectDock-Plus-1.90.535u-EMBRACE:\EMRACE.rar:\embrace\keygen.exe

were infeced with:
Trojan horse Generic5.JOW

Herr.Pilsken (2008-03-21)

Nevermind my last comment it's most likely just a false postive

Lemmings19 (2008-03-26)

Hostel-1 (2008-03-28)

runs great all keys work and its clean.... (people need to know what false positives are) 99.95 keygens usually come up reading virus when in reality there is nothing wrong with it!
This product is safe for download!

waree (2008-03-31)

eshkar7 (2008-05-02)

!!!!!This Torrent has a trojan and something else Norton picked up on, DO NOT DL!!!!

copypaper (2008-05-08)

First I would like to say ALL keygens have a trojan in them. Trojans are not always bad as well. Secondly, Im not sure if this will work for Vista considering Vista is based with security in mind as well as ease of use for the end user. Vista has its own theme unique to the Windows family so the theme.dll file may not be able to be cracked at all.

TorrentLeechG6 (2008-05-20)

Um... false negative my ass. "Keygens are all trojans, blah blah blah" your full of shit people dont be fuckin morons... I have vista, xp, adobe cs3, msoffice, and all ea games keygen(s). none of these returned threats throught nod or avg. so how the fuck can "all keygens be trojans" some just arent bad?!?!? your crazy! beings i had this and only used the windowblinds program (which doesnt require a keygen!!!) worked fine with no funny stuff... theres a possibility there may not b malicious code executed by the "trojan" but then again is it even worth the risk for a program that actually slows your os by consuming crazy amount of resources, and startup/shutdown functions?!?!? cheers

senon2yo (2008-08-10)

if ya wanna avoid the "trojan" from any keygen, just run it in sandboxie and nothing to worry about

LoonyJ (2008-12-23)

I'll tell ya what's sadder than people being scared of a keygen setting off anti-virus. I am downloading this file from MegaUpload and here(with uTorrent), and the torrent was maxing out at 20 kbps and an average of 6.5 with 3 seeds, but megaupload is coming thru at a max of 536 kbps and an average of 521. Why is it that people dont want to seed?

LoonyJ (2008-12-24)

I am having trouble with this file. Could you email me so I can ask about it? My email is loonyj@inbox.com
I tried signing up for apirateslife.net also, but there is no registration area.

thyonly (2009-02-20)

just d/load and install winblind. the patch not working. it say something like other program access the dll file. so how? any help. please?

demonoidmaster (2009-03-08)

Dont Just Think You Can Download This And Then Close Utorrent (Or W/E P2P U Use)

xenomorph1138 (2009-05-25)

I think someone forgot to take their medication this morning. Get a grip!!

SpiritWolfe (2009-06-04)

@lemmings19~ IT IS A *FALSE positive DUDE! R-E-A-L-X-!-!-!
Run and or EXTRACT the KEYGEN *AFTER* you DISABLE AVG's Resident Shield...

wilson1375 (2009-07-07)

I just dont see any reason why a keygen should ever be flagged as a false positive, a crack/patch, yes, but not keygen. it simply takes one string, uses an algorithm and produces a different string, thats all a keygen does and should ever do. are the people who are claiming false positives actually checking their .dlls, hdd actions, file writes/reads, registry keys, pipes, etc. to ensure nothing is abnormal? if i were going to distribute malicious code, how do you think i would do it? i would get people to ignore positives from AV. i haven't dl'd this torrent and checked it, so im not directing anything toward the uploader, just tired of people being so damned ignorant

kodabar (2009-08-15)

So here's the real deal about trojans and the like:
When you see a torrent that's supposed to be infected by something like "Trojan horse Generic5.JOW" or "Generic keygen/trojan" - then it's almost certainly a false positive. If your anti-virus software gives it a specific name, then there's a good chance it's real. But if it just thinks it might be a trojan or a virus, but doesn't know which one, it's usually wrong.
Cracks generally appear to be trojans because they modify the code of another program. And because that's what trojans and viruses do, your anti-virus will go off and shout about it. There is no clever way for your AV software to tell the difference between a trojan and a crack. It just guesses and it tends to bet on the safe side.
Despite what some of you may think, even keygens are not immune to a false positive. A keygen will often be packed in a compressed EXE. This is usually done to prevent other pirate groups from decompiling it and stealing the algorithm. It can also be done to mask its presence from the application that it's being used to register. A lot of viruses and trojans use compressed or otherwise obfuscated EXE files in order to try to avoid AV detection.
So what do you do? Well, there's a love program called Sandboxie. You run programs inside it. It allows programs to read from your hard disk, but not write to it. It runs the program in a protected space or sandbox. Once you've installed it, you'll find you can right-click on any executable and "run sandboxed". I always do this with keygens. It makes them safe. Get Sandboxie, it's free.
http://www.sandboxie.com/
For cracks and patches, it's more difficult because they need to modify the disk. Well, you should have a look through the torrent comments. See if there's any comments about named trojans or viruses, not just vague warnings about generic ones. Also, is the uploader trusted? If they've got a pink or green skull next to their username, they're smarter than you and the community has judged them to be safe. These people will almost never upload anything that has something bad in it. And if they do, they will notice it themselves and remove the torrent.
Still not reassured? Then submit the crack or patch to Virustotal. It's a site where your submitted files are run through every anti-virus application that there is. Pretty much no file will every make it through all of them without a warning or two, but if two or three major AV packages flag the file as having the same trojan or virus, it's time to be cautious.
http://www.virustotal.com/
If you're still suspicious after that, download a different torrent of the same thing (if it's available) and compare your results. If you're still worried, delete it, don't download the software and try paying for it instead.
What you should never do is posts a comment like "!!!!!This Torrent has a trojan and something else Norton picked up on, DO NOT DL!!!!"
That comment does not give anyone any useful information. You're definitively saying there's a trojan, but not giving any details. We have no way of telling whether you're very experienced with computers or not, so we don't know whether to just take your word for it or not. For that comment, with its extra exclamation marks and poor grammar, I'm guessing that the author is a fucking idiot and I'm not going to listen to a thing he has to say.
If you have been through all the procedures outlined above, then by all means leave a comment saying that you have found a trojan/virus/whatever in file XXX.XXX and that it was identified as XXX by version X.X.X of whatever AV software you're using. Do not proclaim it to definitely be a virus. Ask for other people's opinions and experience.
And that is how you use torrents safely.
Oh and for the guy who thought that trojan distributors hang around on torrents trying to persuade people that AV warnings are false positives... you're wrong. Stop and think for a second. If you're trying to distribute a trojan, you want it spread as far

IDQD18 (2009-08-23)

This torrent is clean.
My NOD32 v4359 detected nothing. ( Latest Update ).

Works perfectly.
@The dumb fucks please read my guide it's sure to save you some embarrassment.
Torrenting for dumb fucks.
By XilE
1. Due to the nature of keygens/cracks/patches they often register as a infection. Especially patches.
2. Antivirus companies have no problem taking money to add pirated software as a infection.
3.Is the user your downloading from trusted? "PRO TIP #93 LOOK FOR THE SKULL"
4. Don't claim something is infected if you're a fucking moron and have no clue what the fuck you're talking about.
5. Still think it's infected?
5.1 Take a look up and if there is a skull go ahead and facepalm yourself and refer to steps 1 & 2
6. Still think it's infected? Get into your car drive to the closest Walmart and pick yourself a nice baseball bat.
7. Pay for it.
8. Drive home.
9. Take your bat and destroy your PC because you're obvious too fucking stupid to own one.
10. Go sign yourself up for a retard check.
Don't like me? Think I'm an asshole? Well that makes two of us since I agree 100%
