If the gods of rock & roll fused the riffing of AC/DC's Angus Young with the over-the-top posturing of Kiss' Paul Stanley and then provoked this unholy alliance with speed-metal head-bangers Nashville Pussy, Rye Coalition would materialize, beaming with Bic-flicking lighters thrust skyward. Stoked by the muscular production of Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, this Jersey-based quartet of Nugent, Kiss and hair-metal devotees, uncork purely derivative, skull-throttling hard-rock bombs that transcend the volatile hardcore which initially brought them attention. With conspicuously crazed numbers like the backseat horn-dog romp of "Pussyfootin'" and the howling "Cocaine Werewolf" (an obvious nod to Foreigner's "Hot Blooded"), Rye Coalition can be taken as seriously as an episode of Starsky and Hutch.
