Pretty Baby (1978) Director: Louis Malle Pretty Baby is a 1978 historical fiction drama film directed by Louis Malle. The screenplay was written by Polly Platt. The title is inspired by the Tony Jackson song, "Pretty Baby", which is used in the soundtrack. Although the film was mostly praised by critics, it was quite controversial at the time, especially for its scenes of the nude pre-teen Brooke Shields. After making a series of acclaimed and controversial films in his native France, director Louis Malle made his American debut with this disturbing but visually beautiful story about Hattie (Susan Sarandon), a prostitute working in New Orleans' Storyville district at the turn of the century. When Hattie becomes pregnant, she opts to keep her baby and gives birth to a daughter named Violet, raising her in the brothel where she continues to work. Twelve years later, Violet (Brooke Shields) is old enough to attract the attentions of the brothel's customers, but emotionally has one foot in the adult world of her surroundings and the other in the naïveté of childhood. With Hattie's consent, Violet's virginity is auctioned off to the customers of the house; but for Violet, the pull between childhood and adulthood becomes most clear -- and most painful -- when she draws the affections of Bellocq (Keith Carradine), a photographer who has been working on a photo series about Storyville prostitutes. Violet's blend of childlike innocence and adult sensuality is profoundly attractive to him, but their relationship quickly becomes problematic, especially when Hattie leaves Violet behind to get married. The ONLY difference is that DVDRip is reframed/zoomed. Ohh, and the VHS version has a much lower quality.
Nothing has been removed or cut, as compared to VHS version.
This DVDRip have a much better quality.

This version is uncensored, I compared it with the VHS and they are identical, only difference is that this version has much better quality (it's also reframed so the bottom/top is cut slightly).
If you're going to download this movie, this version here from big_dad_e is the one to grab.

I'd suggest snagging both this version and the VHS version as this one cuts off a few parts for no apparent reason. No scenes are missing but they are zoomed in which is just silly. Having both versions is optimal.

Se7enex is correct, but the quality of the VHS is extremely bad compared to the DVD and the zoomed in parts don't make no difference.
You'd have to be an obsessive collector who can't miss out on a few worthless pixels.
I deleted the VHS and kept the DVD only.
