It does use TAGES protection and on the official site is says that the DVD version does not require online activation. I'm 99.9% sure that this is the DVD version.

I'm a huge fan of this series and I've been waiting ( impatiantly ) for the past few days for this.
The crack will come. The system it uses isn't entirely new. It been used in a game before ( can't remember the name just now ) and was cracked then so it will be cracked for this one.

Just to add, I have just downloaded the v1.0.1 to v1.2 game patch if anyone wants an upload.
Anyone who knows these games will know that you usualy need to register an official game on egosofts site to get this.
The patch was released on the official release date based on feedback from all those who got it a day early through steam.
It fixes quite a few bugs and balancing problems plus it adds an extra mission etc.

I have been looking also and nothing yet. If there was a crack there would also be a scene release. From all of the searches I have done, this appears to be the only image available also. I have come across a mention that Reloaded have or are in the process of releasing a cracked version. Hopefully in the next 24hrs. Fingers crossed

the image is made by alcohol 120% 1.9.5 without any anti protection settings...
it is right the game is protected by TAGES
the only thing i am sure is the image can be mounted by newest Daemon tools and the game can be fully installed.
but i dont think any one can use this image running the game without a crack
it doesnt work even if i use daemon tools pro with TAGES profile making an image...
the good news is when i setup the game using current image then play with the orignal DVD, the game runs very well...which means the game installation of this image has no problem.

Some places stated that it won't be out in the US coz they had issues with the US publisher so Steam was there only source. But... I have read that the release date for the US is 30th Oct and 28th for aus.

That dude who did the torrent used HJSplit to split the 7z archive, so you need that to join the files back together then you can unpack it.
@lanky2007: The game uses Tages copy protection, I'm not sure if it is even possible to do a working clone of it. You should try it with the newest daemon tools pro version.

It's pretty strange, the list of peers on my client shows as no one having 100% of the file, yet we all seem to be downloading from somewhere..
Speed keeps fluctuating from 1kb/s to 200kb/s from time to time and slowly progressing.. Right now most of us have 87.4% of the file.
As soon as the bulk hits 100% (and not just the invisible seeder) speed should increase a lot for the rest of the downloaders.
PS. Or maybe I'm wrong and someone already has downloaded 100%?

i like the Boron capital ships, their fast and pack a punch. For personal ship i use the Eclipse it has good shields and weapon mounts (A Boron Shark filled with 45 Eclipse is awesome ).

The lone seeder connects to some leechers. Those leechers give you pieces as they get them from the seeder.
The seeder cannot connect to 2000 host at the same time, it would be inefficient.

The peer listing of the client shows only the connected peers. So, if the seeder is not connected to you, you will see noone having 100% of the file. You download from other peers/leechers as they download from the seeder.

I personally don't add random trackers to torrents. From torrents I d/l from TPB, I delete all third party trackers, as well as multiple instances of the same TPB tracker (multiple DNS names leading to the same tracker machine)

The game uses Tages. That means it MAY work without a crack the first minutes, but it will become unusable as time passes.
Also, dont forget to install the 1,2 patch (included in torrent) and download a version 1,2 crack only once onegets released.
Scene members may speedy release a crack for V1.0, without taking in account the game had a patch even before release (but theit e-peen will grow a bit longer since "ZOMG, WE DID IT FIRST").

ok so I installed it. you will need a lot of space to combine the .7z file and then to extract the .mdf out of it so that's like 20gb. and then there's the game itself another 8gb. the game installs fine but when you run it asks for administrator's permission to install the TAGES drivers. so this is where I stopped because I red some disturbing things about TAGES. does someone who plans on reinstalling windows wanna give it a try and let the rest of us know what happens?

Tages includes a rootkit system driver that enables Tages to find the "secured areas" on an original disk. It is NOT needed for an image or copy, and it will NOT let you play the game.

Unlike Starforce and other annoying protection programs, Tages is less annoying and I wasn't able to find it (didn't search for long, got a hockey game starting). But I know that like starfoce, you can go on their website to get a program to unninstall the driver.

I must warn everyone NOT to try to run this before a cracked executable appears!
Installing rootkits and virtual devices on your Windows installation is not the right way of keeping a healthy OS.
The game will NOT run correctly, even if you install Tages and try to, because the image was not created with Tages emulation of "secure areas" found on a CD.
I advise you to fire up Freelancer or X3:R in the meantime :p

The most I could glean from the instructions was that we have to find the twin sectors of the original DVD, then inject them into the image, which has to be a CCD file.

I got X3 Reunion when it was 2.0 already and they have removed the protection so I'm not too familiar with the history of cracks. but anyway I understand Reunion was easier to crack. it seems that crackers are on vacation anyway as the crack for Far Cry 2 isn't out either :) just kidding, I have great respect for crackers (the people)

TAGES has been cracked, the only thing is, that the cracking procedure is different for every TAGES-protected game for i-don't-know what reason. that's why it's taking people so long to crack it.

Tages takes weeks to crack since it encodes game instruction from like 5 to 50000 and cracker has to dig through that besides parts of the exe are being stored on dvd in inaccesible area through the disk file system (thats why the tages drivers) So they need to be xtracted and merged with a crack. Its a looong and hard job cracking it. If someone is on it it will take a few weeks > look at stalker cs.

While tages can trigger game errors when it won't detect the disc , from what I heard X3:TC does not have those implemented. It can be cracked but it takes time or someone with a specific disk reader that can copy the twin sectors.

In this archive there is a virtualCD software from chinese company. There is no english language interface and everything is in ????????? characters, but with a little imagination the right options can be found. The right options are the TAGES 1:1 copy options. Maybe they will not work but somebody with the game can try. The software is 30 day trial. It's interesting to see can or can not the Tages be copied.

Why bother? Daemon Tools Pro can create an image of Tages-protected games.

From what I've been told even imaging it with DT Pro doesn't work. What we have to have is a cracked .exe. TAGES uses double addressing on the original disc, meaning that occasionally, at a certain interval, a memory address on a disc is duplicated, so two consecutive addresses would be something like, say A98FA followed by A98FA, but the second address, tho identical, would contain different data. TAGES reads the duplicates and fills in the blanks left when the game is installed. Or so I understand.

You could burn this file info onto another disc, and try to defeat it with DT Pro but it wouldn't work, because the original duplicate addresses aren't included. You have to have cracked file info with the included data on the duplicate addresses located on the original CD.

That's why the guy who made it confirms that the install only works with the original disc. He said he tried beating it with DT Pro, no good. My guess is that when the crack comes out you might need to dl the whole thing again...

I wasn't clear. The game will install, but will not run properly without the disc.
Truth is, I'm not 100% on how TAGES stops you, I just know what I read about how it works, using duplicate memory addresses in the CD. It will install, but the game will eventually stop working without the original CD. Beating TAGES has to do with finding the duplicate memory addresses and doing "something" with them. Additionally, there is some kind of mathematical process which is applied to decoding the addresses. Again, I'm not an expert, I'm just rattling off what I recall from the article I read on beating TAGES.

This torrent is a valid image and will install but it won't run even with daemon tools. You have to have one of the clonedvd ones. This one will not work until someone comes out with a crack.

Yes, that version, and ones before it are unable to mount the PROCYON image. You need to use DTOOLSpro 4.3.x minimum.

i got it to work perfectly. But i used a trial version of DT pro advance. and the trial is over... and i couldnt get a cracked DT pro work. But for those who havent try using DT PRO advance (newest version), it works with no problems. just watch out for the days left and get a crack ASAP.

OK guys, I have downloaded game very well, extracted and when it's finished it says X3TC.7z. I tried to extract again but now it is damaged archive. Tried to repair with winrar and 7zip but still damaged. Also I tried to install Tages drivers and renamed to X3TC.mds and when I mount game it won't to load game. When I go to MyComp I can't access the iso. Also I just installed latest DT pro advanced and nothing. Any help please. Running Win7 x86.
