Description:

The S.C.U.M. Manifesto by Valerie Solanas.doc Considered in some corners to be alternately satire, brilliant, a sad commentary on a disturbed woman's inner psyche, or a treatise on what men reveal to sex workers, Valerie Solanas' 1968 pamphlet 'The S.C.U.M. Manifesto' stands as the singularly most reviled work of Feminist Literature to date. Had the genders been reversed, no doubt this would have been considered the work of a deeply disturbed and hateful man. But Feminists insist that this work is a "Literary Device" to foment discussion and inspire intellectual self-discovery. Short, violent, disturbed and to the point, The S.C.U.M. Manifesto will leave its readers no doubt as to what the deepest held values of Feminism are. Not for the faint of heart. Valerie Solanas proposes to exterminate all men. Yep, you read right, all the men. Makes Hitler's plans seem moderate...

sandra_wonder79 (2008-11-13)

Yup.
Most modern outspoken educated feminists dismiss Solanas (who, by the way, shot Andy Warhol for no good reason) a nut. But the woman who co-founded NOW (the National Organization for Women - one of the biggest rights lobbies for women) was a fan and a friend of Solanas back in the day.
I'm a woman. I'm for equal rights. But Solanas makes me sick. More so that some people take her seriously makes me sick.

i suspect solanas isnt entirely serious...

sandra_wonder79, chill out. Solanas stated this manifesto was written for literary effect only and not to be taken seriously.

"sandra_wonder79, chill out. Solanas stated this manifesto was written for literary effect only and not to be taken seriously. "
Except that I have had conversations with Feminists who quoted from it verbatim, and they were being completely literal and serious.
Except that this concept of eliminating men from multiple spheres of social influence is indeed reality.
Except that men are presumed guilty and have few rights when confronted by a woman levying an accusation.

"Except that I have had conversations with Feminists who quoted from it verbatim, and they were being completely literal and serious."
The context in which something is written and the context in which a small minority decipher it are not neccessarily the same thing. I haven't read this yet but I've heard a lot about it, and let me just say, Solanas sounds like a riot.

Also, critical thinking should obviously be employed when reading anything, especially as far as personal manifestos are concerned. I don't imagine any author has a real desire for her/his readers to suck up every verbalized opinion and adopt them as their own without thought as to why.

We men need to take our rights back!
The key is mastering their pussy aka mastering pick-up art... and sharing our women.
