Story: गुणा उर्फ गुणवंत कागलकर हा एक गरीब शेतमजूर. पण कलेची अतिशय आवड. गावात तमाशा आला कि घरादाराचे भान विसरून तमाशाला जाणार त्यातली कला बघणार आणि आपण पण कलेमध्ये काहीतरी करावे अशी स्वप्न बघणार. गुणाबरोबर त्याचे काही मित्र देखील अश्याच वेडाने भारावलेले. सगळ्याच मित्रांचे पोट त्यांच्या मालकाच्या मर्जीवर अवलंबून असते. त्यात एक शेतकरी, शेतावरील मोट काढून टाकून त्यावर इंजिन बसवतो. सगळ्या मजुरांचा रोजगार जातो. सगळे एकत्र बसून यावर काय तोडगा काढता येईल याचा विचार करतात. त्यात गुणाला एक विचार मनात येतो. कि सगळे जण कुठल्या न कुठल्या कलेत पारंगत आहेत, तर मग आपण सगळे मिळून एक तमाशाचा फड काढू या. सगळे याला होकार देतात. त्यात गावातील एक पांडव म्हणून माणूस बरीच वर्ष तमाश्यात काम करून अनुभवी झालेला असतो. त्याला बरोबर घेऊन हे तमाशाचा फड काढतात. गुण खूप छान वग लिहितो. सगळे जाणं सराव करतात. आणि मधेच पावूस पडू लागतो त्यामुळे सगळे मित्र शेताची काम करायला फड सोडून निघून जातात. पण गुणा तमाशाचा फड काढायचा याने खूपच भारावलेला असतो. तो सगळा जीव लावून एक छानसे नाटक लिहितो. पण तमाश्यात बाई नसली तर लोक कसे येणार यामुळे सगळे लोक मग बाई शोधायला बाहेर पडतात. शेवटी एक माय-लेक सापडते. या दोघी तमाश्यात यायला तयार होतात. नयना कोलापुरकर आणि गुणा कागलकर यांचा फड तयार होतो. नयना कोलापुरकरच्या मते जर फडत नाचा नसेल तर फड काही प्रसिद्ध होणार नाही. तिचे इतके ठाम मत असते, कि फडातील सगळे लोक मग नाचा शोधायला बाहेर पडतात. नाचा व्हायला कोणीच तयार होत नाही. शेवटी, आता नाचा नाही म्हणून फड बंद करायचा कि स्वत: नाचा व्हायचे या संभ्रमात गुणा पडतो. शेवटी तमाशा काढायचाच याचा विचार इतका जबरदस्त असतो, कि गुणा नाचा व्हायला पण तयार होतो. एकदम पहेलवान असणारा गुणा एकदम बायकी रूप घेतो, व नयना कोलापुरकर आणि गुणा कागलकर यांचा तमाशाच फड गावोगावी तमाशा सदर करायला तयार होतो. पुढे या फडाला प्रसिद्धी मिळते का, गुणाच्या घरातील लोकांचे गुणाशी संबध कसे बदलतात, गावातील लोकांचे गुणाबद्दल काय मत होते, हे सगळे बघा नटरंग मध्ये. सिनेमा उत्तम आहे. पण मी जितके काही या सिनेमाबद्दल ऐकले तितका सुंदर नाही वाटला. शेवट खूपच ओढला आहे असा वाटते. म्हणजे गुणाच्या बायकोला लोक काय काय बोलतात ते ठीक असेल, पण नंतर फडातील लोकांवर अत्याचार, वगैरे अतिशय जास्त वाटले. यापेक्षा जेव्हा त्याला प्रथम बक्षीस मिळते तेव्हाच, वडिलांना भेटायला येऊन, लोक कलेचा आदर करतात असे सांगून सिनेमा संपवला असता तरी चालले असते. शेवट उगाचच ओढून ताणून आणला आहे असे वाटले. सिनेमातील गाणी तर खूपच श्रवणीय आहेत. अतुल कुलकर्णीने खूपच छान भूमिका निभावली आहे. त्याचा नाच, व आधीचा पहेलवान गुणा दोन्हीहि खूपच छान. सोनाली ठीक. हि दिसते खूप सुंदर. नाच देखील चांगले केले आहेत. एकूण सिनेमा चांगला आहे. बघावा असा आहे, पण पुन्हा पुन्हा बघावा असा नक्कीच नाही.
