for people who get the bug for not being able to start a new game after adding mods.
Get the OMOD program, change the order in which your mods load and get the oblivion masterfile to load first then every other masterfile just after that at the top.

I've installed Oblivion with SI and KoN without any problems, I've overwritten the .exe file with crack file from KoN CD, but the problem is that whenever I minimize the game and I go to the deskop the game hangs ( screen ingame is black ) and I have to close it with task manager and then run again. i followed the instructions to the letter, and am able to get to the menu no problem. however, as soon as i try to start a new game, the game hangs. i thought at first it was the mods, and uninstalled and re-installed with only SI, but i still get the hanging problem. Then I thought that SI had something to do with it so I tried disabling it in the data files, yet the problem still occurs. I'm running vista 32-bit with a gtx 460. i've also tried compatability mode for xp.
just to make sure i didn't do anything incorrectly:
1. I mounted the iso with poweriso, installed oblivion
2. mounted the SI iso and installed it, followed by the update.
3. Then I copied the crack to the game directory, and installed mods afterwards.
any ideas on a fix?

Okay, everything worked up until I needed to copy and paste the crack into the game folder...first of all, there is no game folder, at least not one with a bin folder that I can put the crack into. Also, no matter where I did try putting the crack, it told me that I was missing "binkw32.dll". I am a little bit frustrated. Could somebody help me out? I'm not very computer savvy so please be patient with me. I'm trying to learn.

After a long search (downloading every single version of oblivion on TPB) I finally found a real GOTY edition... it was literally the last one I tried, one with the fewest seeds... I quickly discovered why... It turns out that bethusda put securom DRM on the setup.exe files such that INSTALLING the game requires the original CD inserted (or a cracked setup.exe, available seperately from reloaded and a PITA to incorprate)... and even UNINSTALLING requires the original CD (turns out a lot of frustrated people who has stopped playing years ago, came to uninstall, couldn't find their CD, and now can't uninstall it)... I was hoping to save installs (12 seperate installs total!) but its just not worth it. Might as well stick with the 12 install method...
This version gets commended for including a patch and a crack for that patch. Best way to get all oblivion is to download THIS version followed by downloading the "Fighter's Stronghold" DLC separately.

PURPLE GROUND GLITCH
This is how you fix it. It took me freaking ages to find out how, but it's pretty simple.
First, mount the second disc, the one with SI on it.
Now try and install the update. If it works, you're all good my friend.
If you get that "Old file not found" thing, then don't worry, I got you covered.
Just click Install Shivering Isles instead, that includes the patch that fixes the purple ground.
That's how I fixed mine.
I hope this helps some other poor bastard like me get his game on!

Mounting is a term when you use a program like Daemon Tools Lite to mount a disc image like the one you will get in this torrent as a normal disc. Then, it acts pretty much as if you inserted a real disc, letting you install it and everything.
I gotta say though, if you don't know what mounting is you should probably read up a bit more before trying to install this kind of program. It can get really confusing, even to those with experience.

Hey i installed everything just fine, got the cd mounted all mods installed and update installed. the game runs fine but for some reason my normal saves dont work. it says it saves but the file just doesnt appear. only auto saves and quick saves show up but i dont think i can get through the game on that alone. if i over write a quicksave with a normal save i end up with nothing. can someone help me out?

For some reason it worked fine when I loaded the exe in the Start Menu. On windows 7. Dont see why the Shortcut on desktop OR the exe in the Program Files wont work. But all well, I won't complain.

Leveling problem: Whenever your progression bar is maxed out, USE A BED. After waking up you'll get the level up screen. Seems strange, but that's how it goes in this game.
The game runs smooth and no problems at all. Just follow the steps and don't spam questions which already have been asked and posted, just read through the comments.

Ok so I am having a problem. The sound works perfectly except for when something is zoomed in on. As in when picking a lock (where it is essential) and when zooming in on a character face for dialogue. I've come to a halt in loads of my quests because it's near impossible to pick locks. I would be REALLY grateful for some help.

To use cheats on Vista you find your device manager and uninstall to "infrared human interface" or something like that then the tilde (~) should work but It will reinstall every time you restart your computer. Hope this helps, zander485

So I fixed the black screen issue. After reading ALL the comments and finding multiple people with the same problem but no answers... I was able to fix it myself.
All I did was click on the shortcut oblivion which opens up the menu you'd get off the DVD, I then looked in the mods that were on and off, and apparently it was set with Oblivion, the main file... Off... So I switched it on and it's working perfectly now.

You should get DAEMON Tools, it was easier to me. Once you get DAEMON Tools, you should install it. Once you install it, there should be a icon on your taskbar with a little CD with a lightning bolt inside. Right click on the icon, go to virtual devices, and go to "Device 1: [G:]" and "Mount Image" and choose the .iso's the game came with.

When I try and download the torrent I get an error saying, "One or more files exceed filesystem size limit, the files cannot be saved properly." I've been doing this for years and I've never had this problem and I've downloaded files way bigger than this one before. Okay, everything seems to be working quite well, until the part with the sewers. So I used the key and unlocked the door. I press space on the sewer entrance, then there is a loading screen. Installed game cutscenes and menus work fine but I go to create a character and only menus show up the rest is all black. If I go ahead and create a character blindly then its a black screen with only the stamina bars and the like showing up.

The download was rather fast for me. Can mount the iso's just fine, it installs normally as well. The problems start when I try to customize my character though. During the character customization process my mouse stops working. The game itself doesn't crash, since I do still hear the music and the character keeps moving. I just can't use my mouse or keyboard anymore in the game. Then I have to alt tab, and close it through task manager.
I have tried reinstalling several times. I followed the guide to the letter. I can't get it to work though, any help?

'Purple grass' fix here! If you're having the 'purple grass' (grass in outdoor areas being replaced by a purple map texture) problem, it's caused by having the wrong shaders. The file you need is "1175886746_Shaders.rar" Put that into google and it'll give you a link to a Youtube page.. on there are the links to download the file. You extract all the files in the .rar to your oblivion/data/shaders folder and overwrite. Hey presto, fixed, everything is as it should be :) Guarantee that this works, 100% .I struggled with this problem for ages before figuring it out, so there ya go.

All right, is anybody else having problems with sounds in the game? One issue that I have. Any time when I try to enter dialog with an NPC, I can't hear them what so ever. Only when I'm near them, do I hear them talk. My character also can not make noise, except when he swings a sword or shoots a bow/spell an what not. I've tried re installing several times, along with rebooting and deleting any remaining flies that are left from installing/saving from the game. Its very annoying to me to not have full sound when I play; that's what some of this game is about. Sounds from the environment and the characters. Well, if any of u have some idea, let'me know!!!

For those with the "This program has stopped working" blah blah blah issue, after a fresh install (so for me, just started it up first time..little black box on corner and program stopped error, followed instructions to the dot)
Just run the Oblivion ISO again, go to options, turn on HDR (Its the special effects, middle options on the bottom rectangle) (I also changed my screen resolution) and it opened up, havent got past that, but it got the game to run for me.

Has anyone has securom issues with this version? The last one I tried had securom in it and it pretty much walked over to daemon tools and shot it in the face. I had to uninstall both of them and delete the oblivion files. I had even tried YASU and set daemon tools to ignore securom, but it still didn't work.

Seeing as it is an .iso file, you will need deamon tools or equivalent to install it.

What to do -
1. Download this Torrent through uTorrent
2. Open up the downloaded File
3. Open up Daemon Tools Lite
4. Search for the ISO file in the downloaded File using Daemon Tools
5. Mount the ISO file
6. Look for the Other ISO file in the Downloaded file and Mount that as well
7. Look at the First Mounted File by going to "My Computer" or "Computer" and clicking on the Drive that says Oblivion
8. Click (Double) on Setup.exe

Okay, way too many comments so I'm not going to go searching through all them for help.
Basically, the opening cutscene is messed up. The top quarter of the screen is normal, the left-hand part below that lags, and the right side is completely stuck on the first frame when the Emperor is talking (ie torso shrouded in darkness).
Everything below that is blackness. Since the opening cutscene is pretty long - and significant - and I believe this will also affect all other cutscenes, can anyone help?

Also, for any of you having the issue where you can load the menu, but not create a new game, you have to mount the second (shivering isles) disk, explore the disk, open the "crack" folder, and copy the oblivion file inside to the game directory. There should be in the game directory a non-cracked version of the same thing, so you will need to verify that you want to replace that file with the cracked version and such, but then the game should work. At least it did for me.

Okay, for all the people who WILL have problems, here are some updated steps:
1. Get Daemon Tools Pro

When I click on continue, either my PC will freeze here (IE not even going to the loading screen), or i'll see the loading screen. About halfway through the loading screen, it might crash. Or if I get to play it, I gotta save like every 5-10 mins because just fast traveling can make it crash. That game is just a crash course thing. THIS TORRENT IS SHIT! GET ANOTHER ONE.

Hey all, This isn't the first time i got a game from here and have gotten it working just fine but, when i start the game the cut scene is fine however the character creation is menu with black background. I thought "maybe this is just the creation" so i randomized and started but then the actual game was black with just my compass. I saw someone said to just restart it, so i did and now the black screen is a little blue-ish green. Any suggestions? also thanks always .bone

Perfecto! Runs on Windows 8 without any problems what-so-ever, so far. The provided install instructions were perfectly clear and apparently made for dummies. Now, I'll play the waiting game to see if the game mysteriously starts black/blue screening or crashing after a few weeks, as mentioned by previous people, or if these people don't know how to properly use a virtual mounting device. Until then, I'm going to enjoy the game as much as possible.

- Mount the .iso file named "oblivion" using poweriso or daemon tools to a virtual drive.
- Load the disk off the virtual drive
- Install the game
- For DLC, mount "shivering isles and do it the same way you installed the first disk.
This is probably the best torrent.

Game works fine, but for me, the main grass texture is a purple hued, mini map of Tamriel's Imperial city tiled over and over. really rather obnoxious, i'm hoping to find an easy fix for it.
For those people experiencing black screens upon character creation, exit the game and open the OblivionLauncher, not the application, as the game needs to know which graphics settings need to be initially applied. you can run directly from the application after the first time. this is what worked for me.

Well I tried using Alcohol 52% to mount the Oblivion ISO but my pc cannot recognize the mounted file but it can recognize the SI_KOTN iso anyone help ? I will consider trying Daemon though.

Daemon tools pro doesn't work too it says windows cannot read the disc and that its either corrupted or not formatted
