After the mysterious demise of one of the three scientists on the base, the main character is sent out to replace him. When he also encounters his wife who has been dead for seven years, he begins to appreciate the baffling nature of the alien intelligence. Trama: ------ Solaris (Солярис) è un film di fantascienza sovietico del 1972 diretto da Andrej Tarkovskij, tratto dall'omonimo romanzo del 1961 dell'autore polacco Stanisław Lem. Presentato in concorso al 25º Festival di Cannes, ha vinto il Grand Prix Speciale della Giuria. Nel 2002 il regista Steven Soderbergh ne ha girato un remake omonimo. In un futuro imprecisato lo psicologo Kris Kelvin è incaricato di recarsi in una stazione scientifica presso il pianeta Solaris. Prima della partenza per il lunghissimo viaggio, egli trascorre alcuni giorni di lavoro e di studio nella residenza paterna di campagna, consapevole di non rivedere al suo ritorno l'anziano padre e sua zia Anna. Nel frattempo riceve la visita indesiderata di Henri Berton, un ex astronauta amico del padre che decenni anni prima era in missione su Solaris e avrebbe assistito a strani fenomeni che lo traumatizzarono. L'uomo rivede insieme a Kris la videocassetta della sua testimonianza di fronte alla Commissione Aerospaziale.
