Right... Tried it again. You CAN use that serial number: use little snitch to prevent DC3 from phoning home. DC3 will present you with a dialog box with three radio buttons: choose the last option, and here comes the problem the other person complained about: you'll need an activation key to activate DC3. This key is NOT the serial number.
So, anybody have a user name + serial + activation key?

You can patch the full version like this, instead of downloading the patched demo where you start in the dungeon.
Use a hex editor, like HexEdit or 0xED, and search and replace these hex values:
Search 482b58cd replace with 60000000

if you installed this game in applications folder you must edit file /Applications/Dark Castle 3 ?/Dark Castle 3.app/Contents/MacOS/Dark Castle 3
i used hexedit.sourceforge.net and it works well

I have never used a hex editor before and i found that OxED was the easiest to use. When you load it just use OxED top menu bar Edit>Find and then copy and paste the numbers that mczy has listed. Works brilliant!

I think it's a very good remake. It completely preserves the atmosphere of the classic while brushing up the graphics.
I still think it's strange that you cannot duck while holding a weapon...

A message to mczy: RTDC has been updated to 1.3.1 and the hex edits to unlock it no longer work, as expected. They did with the previous release, however, so I'm wondering if you could be so kind to post an updated hack for the latest release....? I'm sure all of the Mac gaming community would get you a beer ;-) Thanks!
