hmm who wants windows 98 when windows XP and Vista exists???? =)Burban350 (2009-03-04)
"hmm who wants windows 98 when windows XP and Vista exists???? =)"Ir0nic (hah see what I did there?) that you mention that on today of all days! I just got a call from my friend's dad who is working on a neighbors computer, setting it up with DSL and a network card. The old gal doesn't know anything except 98 and the computer asked for the 98 SE CD to install a driver. All I have is a Packard Bell recovery CD with the original 98, not SE ;) SO! He needs this lol Now to answer your question, who wants it? The neighbor does :P

"hmm who wants windows 98 when windows XP and Vista exists???? =)"Well there are ALSO people who build retro gaming rigs.
Personally I am about to make one and the games I want to play refuses to run on XP, let alone Vista.

mr_universumu are really a stupid person use w98se for a month than u will understand which one is the best, 98 or xp.
than too now xp is prefered as the best platform we can not forget w98 which had delivered the best in past years.
one more fact is that; if one can troubleshoot win98 then he/she can manage winxp easily.

can you use this iso to install drivers ?supanut2000 (2010-08-05)
I agree that Windows 98 se isn't the best, but there are some reasons that people would need this. There is this problem called compatibility.
And there is this thing called virtual machines.
For all of you that are wining go educate yourselves...

Awesome! It works. I used this for VirtualBox and it works AMAZINGLY.Shazad (2010-09-11)
So this isn't a bootable cd?? I absolutely need the bootable floppy?frnortner (2011-08-25)
Yes, you will need the boot floppy, or at least a machine which you can boot into DOS which can read the CD PlayerAnd to the numbskulls who scoff at uploading an older OS, There a a lot of legacy apps which will not run under XP, Vista, or 7. So you take an older machine (paid for, gathering dust), load the old OS, and you have what you need.
Hell, I have an old 386 running OS/2. Why? Well, the PABX, auto attendant and voicemail system runs under OS/2. It is paid for, it works, and does what I need. Just because it is old and maybe obsolete under your opinion, does not mean something is useless. Open your mind, assholes!

@mr_universumI need it because I have my grandpas files on a usb (transfered from a 14 GB HDD) and he had windows 98 SE. I want to run his old spanish learning programs. People do sometimes need old OS's
AfritxAlchemy (2012-04-17)
@BobbySueHear, hear! Here I am running XP Pro and getting ready to downgrade another compy I have to 98SE, since I don't need two XP OSes.
I just wish I could go back in time and get the files I had on the compy I originally had it on. :'(
