Jock of the Bushveld The original version of the film as was seen in South African cinemas and on the SABC. Jock of the Bushveld is a true story by South African author Sir Percy Fitzpatrick. It tells of Fitzpatrick's travels with his dog, Jock, during the 1880s. A 20-year old Percy hears about the Eastern Transvaal gold rush and sets out from Cape Town in hopes of finding fortune. He becomes a transport rider, bringing in supplies from Delago Bay. Along the way he comes across a runt puppy. That puppy was Jock.
