If you guys are getting APPCRASH error or nothing happens when you try to start the game, maybe you forgot to install some necessary components:
Reinstall the game and check all the boxes for .net framework and directx installation. Then copy-paste the SKIDROW files. Now it's working fine here, the game looks nice, gonna buy it on Steam for online play. :)

Ok i've tried this like 4-5 times now and still cant get it to work, I install everything, I even make sure by going to DXsetup to make sure and the dotnetfx35 too and the .NET framework. When I run the game without the crack it says "Steam must be running" then when I copy over the crack the program wont run at all and windows just give's the same old shit "Windows is looking for a solution to the problem".

This game is OK. Nothing more I mean the idea is very original and solid. I would give it an overall 6/10.
Pros:
-The gameplay style is awesome, combining different elements is very entertaining. It's definitely a fresh idea.
-Very cool weapons that give you different abilities.
Cons: (more disadvantages than advantages, sadly)
-Has tons of bugs.
-Not enough saving points is very fucking frustrating.
-Frost+Arcane+Lightning+right click is overpowered and can kill anything with no problem. That kind of imbalances the whole gameplay totally. Because of this there is no need for weapons at all.
-The spells you obtain throughout the game cannot be used. Bugged or what? Idk.
Well it's definitely not worth the money, but it is fun if you wanna burn some time.

Hey, was wondering if anybody could help me:
I'm having the same problem that many people are (the "Magicka has stopped working) problem. I run Vista SP2 and I've put the crack in and all. Tried running it normally, compatibility mode and as admin and the same error every time.
One thing that might be linked, is that after I install the game, when you're asked to install the 3 other programs (DirectX, .NET FW and something else), If I select them all, the first 2 fail (I get some error relating to the dependencies folder) so I just manually installed the exact same version of them.
Any ideas/help? :)

How I got mine to work on W7 64bit
1] Mounted with demon tools (I don't have to unrar for some reason, it just mounts right on to my drive.)
2) Install, make sure you tick all the boxes at the end to install the software needed to run the game. DO NOT CRACK AT THIS STAGE.
3) Once installed, update the game with this
4) Use the crack provided with the update instead of the one with the main folder.
5) Experience the game, then buy it, it's totally worth the measly €10 to play online :).

You CAN play this game online, I already tried it today with a friend, here are the instructions. The one I write here is shorter, while the one in the link includes links and etc., just remove the + (it includes a link to the Update 7 download).
1) Installed the SKIDROW version. DON'T install the cracked content
2) Immediately installed SKIDROW’s update 7, DON'T install the crack files for the update either.
3) Made a steam_appid.txt file with the demo’s app id (73050) and placed it in the root of the Magicka install folder.
4) Lauched the game with legit steam running in the background
(Note that it must say that you’re playing the Magicka demo and anyone else that tries to join the game)

No matter what I do I can't get this to work! I've tried everything I can think of and it always crashes on startup.
First I installed and cracked and I got the 'windows is finding a solution..etc.' message, then I reinstalled, patched and cracked and instead of the windows message my screen just flashed black and then nothing happened. Then I reinstalled again, installed all 3 of those extra things (you need admin controls for 2 of them), patched, cracked and tried again. Still no luck. Anybody have any ideas? I can't see the folder anywhere. I open the iso using Daemon Tools, and the only thing that happen is that the installation starts automatically. I also used magisISO and copied the files from SKIDROW to the installation folder, but there were only some useless .ini and .txt files. Maybe someone could upload the crack-only version, please?

Then on compatibilities, run it as Windows XP (SP3)

Can I get a currently active hamachi server for this game? I want to play multiplayer

I downloaded, downloaded the three extra programs, took the files from the SKIDROW folder and pasted/overwrote the files in the magicka main program folder. It told me the program has stopped working, and do I want to send an error report. I have windows xp. I am already an administrator, so I can't change that. I tried running it with less options, still nothing. I dunno why it's not working, but it seems to be happening to a lot of people, so i think it's something in the program.

To all of you having trouble. During the install you will have to select the 3 extra components and install them, two will fail (dx and the other probably not even included in the torrent) and the other will work.
Then it will probably still give an error, try right-click run as administrator (worked for me), righ-click - properties - compatibility - run as....windows xp sp1/2/3.

@killswitch. If you are operating with windows xp, you don't have the option to run in compatibility mode with windows xp. You must be running a newer version of windows, because you are able to select windows xp. For me, the choices are win95, 98, ME/2000, and WinNT. Also, I don't know what people mean when they say run as administrator. I am already an admin on my computer, so that shouldn't have posed a problem.

@People complaining about language: That's the language of the game characters, it's like the Sim language in The Sims.
@ParanoiaComplex: To get it working on LAN read my comments on Page 4, and you can use Tunngle if you want, it's similar to Hamachi, but dedicated to games.
About the installation problems, I had to install it, uninstall it, and install it again, the second time only installing the third component. Then it worked.

i got it to run after i installed the latest patch (skidrow has it cracked as well). Before that it wouldn't launch. I also had to run as admin.
@fomorian27: The admin thing is for vista/7 users. Even if you are on an admin account, programs don't have admin access unless you give it to them. Try going to microsoft and installing the latest xna and the latest directx. The game uses xna for everything and even supports xbox 360 controller. If the stuff isn't installed it crashes.

I followed the (without +) guide but I encountered some problems:
When hosting an online game my game crashes.
What I managed to fix that lots of people got problem with: Startup. How?
Run as administrator.
Now if someone please would tell me how to prevent the crash when hosting a game I'd appreciate it.
I have installed patch 7 and I have checked and installed all those 3 things at the installer.
I also have changed steam_appid to 73050..
So what could it be?

I'm playing on a laptop, and don't have a middle-button. This isn't a big problem, as I can get my touch-pad to pretend I middle-clicked. This will cast the spell in the game, but (probably) because it's not a real button the tutorial won't let me progress. did anyone else run into this problem? if yes, how did you solve it?

ok ist download virtual clone if your gonna download shit and get a copy of winzip.
now if you got those you can go to vuze or where ever you use to get your torrents and launch magika.
now you will see a filewith a sheep if you hAVE CLONE DR !! rt click THEN extract files HERE ...
now mount the image
Next----Run setup
next-----download all installs
now if you go to your mounted image open it open the skidrowfile and rt click all files and copy now go to c:/program86/parodoxinteractive open it ...now just rt click on the the folder and paste over when it says copy and replace say yes ......now inside C:/program86/pardox/magick file you will see a blue magicka symbol amongst other things click it your good to go if you get a 3.o and 2.o error rt click trouble shoot compatibility windows service pack 2 should do the trick

I bought this game as it was so cheap and long lasting coop fun. If you cant play this as coop, you're missing out. And the amount of bugs in the early releases make me think you should just go and buy the game, get the updates, enjoy it. I'm on Win7 64-bit, and it didn't work at first. To get it to work, when installing check all of the options, then instead of using the given crack, use one of the cracks included with the updates. The most recent update is this one:

It comes with all previous DLC, too. Just use the crack in that file. Lastly, I had to change compatibility settings so it would run in Windows XP Service Pack 2 mode. After that, it worked fine.

Firo, You Probably didn't check all the boxes after the Magicka install.
Game requires XNA Framework 3.1 to play.
The Installer should have been tweaked to automatically install the needed things imo.

You CAN play this game online, I already tried it today with a friend, here are the instructions. The one I write here is shorter, while the one in the link includes links and etc., just remove the + (it includes a link to the Update 7 download).
1) Installed the SKIDROW version. DON'T install the cracked content
2) Immediately installed SKIDROW's update 7, DON'T install the crack files for the update either.
3) Made a steam_appid.txt file with the demo's app id (73050) and placed it in the root of the Magicka install folder.
4) Launched the game with legit steam running in the background
(Note that it must say that you are playing the Magicka demo and anyone else that tries to join the game)

Here is how to fix the "stopped working" issue.
First, turn off windows UAC (User account control).
To make it, open your control panel, type in UAC on the search box and then open it.
If you are using Vista, uncheck the box.
If you are using Seven, drag the control all the way down.
Click ok.
Reboot the computer.
Now, if you already install magicka, uninstall it, both the update and the game itself.
Run the Game instalation.
When finished, mark the two last boxes (Framework 3.5 and XNA).
Crack it.
Enjoy =D
If you wanna play the update, install and crack it normaly.

Had the "Magicka has stopped working" error. Reinstalled and this time made sure to install the XNA Framework at the end of the installation, which made it work. (actually I checked Net framework as well, but I should already have had that installed)
When I started the game I got stuck on a screen showing a PS controller for some reason, though. Might be related to the fact that I installed update 23 before reinstalling.

Protips for Win7 users getting xna errors, access level errors, etc.:
1. Start> Search> "UAC"> Never Notify
2. Run setup as administrator
3. Click all three checkboxes at the end of install
4. Copy over skidrow files
5. Right click Magicka app> properties> compatibility>[x] compaibility mode, win xp sp3 & [x] run as administrator

To those people that are getting errors about XNA Texture something, if you are using intel chipset and it cannot be solved. Or if you have a nVidia video card but still doesn't work go to nVidia control panel --> Manage 3d settings --> Global Settings Tab --> set Preferred grapchics processor to High-performance NVIDIA processor instead of auto select then apply.

Dont bother downloading if you have an integrated graphics card because it wont work and there is no patch that i know of

thank you! and to note im running windows 7 64 bit, ultimate and its working so far. i downloaded this + the update 24 from skidrow, ran the setup as ADMIN and installed everything the .net framework, xna and directx update. copied the files/crack from the skidrow folder to program installation folder and when i ran the exe right click > troubleshoot compatibility > windows xp service pack 3 and run as admin!

Like many other SKIDROW releases, this one doesnt contain support for joypad or any other controler then mouse and/or keyboard. When you select a joypad on the controler type, it simple doesnt work in game.

Did not launch for me with the original crack. Downloaded and installed update 24 by SKIDROW and it works fine with that + the update crack.

Guys i know that most of u have the problem "magicka stopped working"....Well finally I fined the solution!!!!Just go to dependecies make sure that u have=> 1) dotnetfx35 2) DXSETUP [ u can find it here to dependecies folder] 3) xnafx31_resist [if u have xnafx31_resist (1) just go to properties and erase the (1) ].U normally burn the image [ u can use DAEMON TOOLS] then install,copy the files from SKIDROW to Paradox Interactive/magicka DONT RUN THE GAME!!!
Download update 24 [ for magicka ].Install it and copy the files from the SKIDROW folder[from the update] to Paradox Interactive/magicka and overwrite everything.ENJOY!!![its going to be laggy but there isnt another way to fix this problem :D ]

No problem launching in win 8 x64, at first I can't start game, problem with compatibility. I installed again but then everything like direxct net framework, everything works now.
Remember copy files from skidrow.

FINALLY I GOT THIS TO WORK!
Heres what I did:
-Mount game and install
-If you get the errors for installing those 3 items with checkboxes next to them then copy the names and find them on the internet and install them. One I was able to install in the dependencies folder.
-Apply crack in skidrow folder to main installation folder
-Right click application and run for compatibility in windows XP (SP3) and run as admin.
-If it still doesnt work then get the Magicka skidrow update 24, you can find it on piratebay.
-install it, apply crack, change compatibility for the magicka app again and it should work
