Description:

My Favorite Broadway: The Leading Ladies (Proper Soundtrack) On Sept. 28, 1998, some of the greatest divas in musical theater took the stage at New York City's Carnegie Hall to belt out a selection of Broadway hits. It couldn't have been hosted by any other person than Julie Andrews. Every performance is amazing. Definitely a DIVAS night Although they may all be trying to outsing each other, its impossible to compare them because all of the performances are captivating in their own way. Some of the ladies offer songs with which they have been closely associated over the years, while others explore the road not taken. This is highly recommended for Broadway fans 1. It will be released as a CD on February 27, 2009; the DVD/VHS release is scheduled for March 13, 2009 (Image Entertainment), with a PBS airing also happening that month. My Favorite Broadway: The Love Songs received a great deal of media attention owing to one sequence: Following Crawford's "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face," he was joined by host Julie Andrews, who speaks a few Eliza Doolittle lines, then sings about five notes of "The Rain in Spain" - because of Andrews' well-publicized vocal problems, the audience reacts deliriously.
