Wie bekannt wurde, ist mit "Demonoid" der zweitgrößte BitTorrent-Tracker der Welt offline gegangen. Angeblich hat der kanadische Musikverband CRIA dem Provider des Portals Druck gemacht, so dass dieser sich gezwungen sah, die Seite vom Netz zu nehmen.
Wie die Internetseite "Torrentfreak.com" berichtet, sind sowohl der Tracker, als auch die Webseite von Demonoid seit mehr als 24 Stunden offline. Bereits im Vorfeld hatte der kanadische ISP von Demonoid angekündigt, die Seite vom Netz zu nehmen, sobald es Beschwerden seitens der Musik- oder Filmindustrie gibt.
Dies ist nicht der erste Schlag der Musikindustrie gegen die Betreiber des BitTorrent-Trackers. Erst im Juni dieses Jahres, haben sich die Betreiber wegen ähnlicher Vorgänge dazu entschlossen, den Server-Standort von den Niederlanden nach Kanada zu verlegen.
Bis zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt waren weder die Betreiber von Demonoid, noch der kanadische ISP des BitTorrent-Trackers zu einer Stellungnahme bereit. Auch die CRIA wollte die Berichte bislang weder bestätigen, noch verneinen. Ob die Betreiber sich nun dazu entschließen, den Server-Standort erneut zu wechseln, ist nicht bekannt.
