I use AVIAddXSubs its really quick - it takes separate avi and srt/sub files and gives you a new video file with the subs included. It allows you to switch the subs on n off with ur movie player.

I use convertx to burn all my dvds & there's a selection to add sub files to the file before you burn... I don't like the hard coded look...it looks retarded
