macrobac (2011-10-11)

Here's my 2 cents on this record.
1) Too loud. Way too loud. A brick-wall.
2) David Sardy managed to ruin the previous demos of "Record Machine" and "Stop the Clocks" - orchestra? Give me a break.
3) The three released singles, have got B-Sides which are better songs than songs in this album.
4) I am going to buy just the FLAC Bundle singles from Official Store.
5) Oh, did I already mention that THIS RECORD IS SO FUCKING LOUD IT GIVES A HEADACHE?

macrobac (2011-10-11)

Here is my 2 cents on this record:
1) It leaked before street date because the launch strategy was simply stupid. When you gonna learn managementards? Now the leak is all over the net. Congratulations.
2) Record is TOO LOUD. I have a volume KNOB. -12dBFS. Call that loud. Please Noel Gallagher, Dave Sardy and management. Learn about loudness war and actually DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
3) Don't know WHO or WHY the songs "Record Machine" and "Stop The Clocks" have got a pittyful orchestra in them, which RUINED THESE MARVELOUS SONGS as when they were demos. Claps on to the idiots who recorded this way. "Record Machine" is only better on its bridge comparing to the demo.
4) Get all the FLAC Bundle of the three singles on the official store because their B-Sides are way better than any other track in this album, apart from the singles themselves, of course.
5) AKA What a LOUUUUUDDDDDD album.

where is 'a simple game of genius'?

pigsinablanket (2011-10-11)

MACROBAC. Kiss my arse. When you get the talent to get a recording contract and sell shed loads of albums world wide then, and only then, can you criticize.

erik-kool (2011-10-11)

Album too loud? What are you talking about man..
Good Quality, Thnx to uploader!

owatis (2011-10-11)

Just turn down the volume macrobac and enjoy this album like the rest of us.

where is my manners. Thank you rafonsb.

macrobac (2011-10-12)

@owatis, don't be ignorant. Turning down the volume doesn't help a brick-walled record. Refer to Wikipedia Loudness War.

FallontheFeg (2011-10-13)

@macrobac
You ignorant, un-informed, retarded, full of shit, fucking cunt. As a sound engineer, and a human with the ability to hear, I have noticed the following; this TORRENT is subject and victim to the loudness war because whoever found the leak has increased the master gain in an amateur program like Audacity somewhere before it was released. This problem has NOTHING at all to do with the engineering of the original album.
If you had listened to the singles released from the album from an official high quality source, you would notice that these tracks actually have very generous dynamic range.
This itself proves that the post production team on this record actually are clued in on what they are doing. It shows that there is a fucking moron somewhere who thought this would sound better rammed up to 0/+dB when, as a pose to the original -5dB master level on the album.
You have clearly done no research, and are probably not even in a place to comment on the post production of an album. Everyone knows what the loudness war is, but it takes someone with common sense and a fucking brain to know that this torrent is no representative of the album that will be released officially.

borgsten (2011-10-13)

Well, I just wanna say thanks. Sounds quite good!

m_edison (2011-10-17)

I registered an account just to respond to macrobac's comments. Having just listened to the album on Spotify, I can say with absolute confidence and authority that only the leak is a participant in the loudness war. Your knee-jerk reaction worried me that this alvum might, as you suggested, have been mastered to compete in a shallow and superficial market.
It hasn't. The album is brilliant and beautifully produced and mastered. The leak, however, isn't. So go and buy it.
