1920x1080 would be widescreen. The Dark Knight is filmed in "super-widescreen" which is not a 1.78:1 ratio (16:9), and is instead a 2.4:1 ratio (24:10). That means the picture is wider than a regular widescreen (16:9) image. So, the resolution is correct, 1920x800, however, the IMAX scenes were shot in 1.43:1 ratio, which you can see is much closer to a fullscreen ratio, than a widescreen/super widescreen ratio. The group that released this just cropped the IMAX scenes to 1920x800 while they should've been approx. 1920x1342. That's why it was nuked, though it's not that big of a deal.

very few HDD media players support MKV. check your manual. I have 2 that do: a Galaxy Tvisto enclosure and a Western Digital HD TV media appliance. The Tvisto is just a waste of money, and a big EFF YOU to Galaxy because I am never buying their products again. I have a NAS/BT box from them that also sux bawls.
I love my WD so far. It plays MKV natively, does HDMI out at 1080p, although a BIG BIG ASS problem is it doesn't decode DTS, which is a large number files. I don't know a good way to demux the audio, downconvert to AC3/AAC, and remux, etc. Thankfully, this encode's stream is not DTS.

VLC will play MKV files, although it has a very bad and very known problem w/ 1080 streams. It drops frames like crazy and freezes during playback.
I'm very happy w/ my WD tv thingy, and hopefully WD will release a firmware update w/ DTS soon (assuming the hardware inside is powerful enough to handle the extra work).

VLC has HORRIBLE playback with 1080 .mkv's. Even some 720p encodes choke the bastard. The datastream is too big for VLC to handle. I bought a Western Digital HD TV media appliance because i was sick of all the headaches. Works very well, but it'll set you back $99.

As annoying as bpaterni's comments are,he is absolutely correct. Bittorrent downloads are already broken into thousands of chucks, each with there own hash, so there is no need to do multi-part rar downloads. He is also correct when he says the x264 is as compressed as you are going to get with video, and raring it is only going to INCREASE the file size.
All raring does in this case is force you to wait for an hour as your unrar program runs through 11GB of data.

Hey guys I just finished downloading this and yes I ran into the same bandwith issues everyone else is. And no the subtitles are NOT hardcoded just turn the option off in mpc. Im having some problems though with the framerate and audio of this though. The audio isnt matching up with the video and the video is choppy at some points. Im playing this on my new laptop I just bought here are the specs.
AMD Turion? X2 @ 2.1 ghz
4 gb of ram
ATI RADEON HD 3200 graphics RS780M
Im hoping its not a hardware issue but if it is ohwell. Hopefully someone can help me out.

Nevermind my earlier post it was a codec problem. Movie looks great, good job and thanks. The wait time was definately worth it. On a side note before my rating, Ive noticed that almost all 1080p torrents do not have the fastest download rates and I make sure that my ports are forwarded and I have a 16mb connection so Im starting to think that maybe something else is stopping us from getting these downloads as fast as we should be able to.

I hate RARed torrents!!
And all you 13 year olds defending rars, its a very bad idea to put it in a torrent for the following simple reasons:
1. compressing a video file will not make it any smaller, unless its in a raw format. Because most movie files are already using a compression algorithm, so compressing them further is uselss!
2. Nobody keeps the original rar files around after the file is extracted. Because after its unrared, it usually takes up double the space!
3. And Because no body keeps the original rar files, torrents like these dissapear very quickly, how many times have I started downloading a rared movie only to have all the seeds disappear at 96%!!!
4. When you finally download the whole thing (8 gigs later), you find out that some a_hole password protected it, so you can't even open your file!!
Therefore, if you have any sense at all, please don't post any more rared files, they are nothing but trouble and a huge waste of time.
AVOID RARs!!
