Pantera - Vulgar Display Of Power - Hollow (5:48) --------------------------------------------------------------------- General Info --------------------------------------------------------------------- This was a request. Originally this recording was very bright and unbalanced, aswell as having some other problems. I've done some changes from the original FLAC albm I worked on. I've equalized the tracks quite alot, both to get the overall tone more to my liking, aswell as correcting/equalizing some annoying artifacts like ringing or resonant frequencies that I can't stand to listen to, especially on headphones. Also originally this recording is quite flat and uncompressed, which can be great since the sond is very open. But I added a compressor aswell as being slightly more aggressive with limiting the output, in order to get a bit more ducking and instrument interaction to the songs, which I think can sound better if done in moderation, especially if you have hall/room reverbs on drums so that they aren't as "sterile". Hope you enjoy, and comment on the torrent comment section if you want to.

I don't know why you'd "re-master" a profesional recording, but I'm going to check it out anyway. Thanx!

Tech-Noir (2008-10-26)

No problem. ;)
The original recording is quite poor, especially in the equalization department. There is an imbalance between different areas of the audio frequency spectrum, which I've tried to correct, while still keeping every instrument and sound sounding as "natural" as possible.
Also, even "professional recordings" can have flaws, imperfections, or even big problems, especially older recordings or recordings made on a small budget. This particular album was an example of one that was quite easily "fixable" without causing unnatural effects, like vocals sounding very canny by too much low-mid energy for example. It just osunds laot nicer and warmer and fuller, especially on higher volumes on headphones, where you now can really crank the volume up and have nothing really "poking out", as opposed to the original album which, when you turned the volume up, all you really got was a harsh dose of high-frequencies that limited you from turning the volume up enough to get the warmth of the bass and low-mid range really present.
Anyways, hope you enjoy. :)

This sounds awesome. Thanks for another sweet remaster!

Huge work, it sounds a lot better than the original recording (I never really liked this album, due to the sound difference between it and Far beyond driven, for exemple).
Thanks alot, I really enjoy it now !!

I did raise the overall volume of the CD. :)
Though I don't do thos ekinds of things just for volume sake, I do them because I aim to have a certain amount of compression (or not so much compression, but I like when the instruments have to fight a bit for space, just a personal preference).
Also the original waveform doesn't have a huge amount of peaks to begin with, so it could have been alot "worse" if I had gone just for volume. :)
Basically, you could see it like I first applied a bit of limiting to get the sound the way I wanted, and then raised the overall amplitude just because there isn't any point in having alot of headroom that is never used.
Thanks for the comment though. :)
