download d3dx9_29.dll
download it.
copy it into the scarface folder and the error should go.

Scarface doesn't run so great on windows vista and 7. It's because Vivindi (developer) didn't set up the game to be played on current systems, and kind of made everything rely on XP.
"WHY THE HELL HASN'T IT BEEN FIXED BY NOW!!!" you may be asking yourself? Well because the publisher of the game, Sierra, was bought out by Activison about a year after this came out. They then shut down the entire Dev team responsible for this game, and oddly enough canceled production of it. It's really weird when you think about it because this game filled in the wii sandbox niche market perfectly.
Theres no chance of a patch ever coming out for this.

But you can sort of fix it. If you go into MSCONFIG.EXE you can switch the number of processers from 2 (or 4, depending on whether your running on quad or duo) to 1. THIS MAY NOT WORK. I'm running Windows 7, 64 bit, and it didn't work for me. But apparently it does work on 32 bit systems.

The game has a multicore problem. Just switch off all but one processor, restart and it works. I have windows 7 64-bit and it worked with me.

Works fine, for anyone who may have problems with Windows 7, try running the game in Compatibility Mode. Probably Windows XP SP3. I don't know right now. Let's see. If you don't know how to get there, right click on the .exe -> Properties -> Compatibility.

nevermind.. i fixed it.. played slow at first but drop the resolution down to 800X600 and it works way better.. its pretty fun if you ask me.. ive always like the movie so.. any way good job.

Guys, if you're having trouble with the graphics:
1. Download 3D Ripper DX.
2. While installing, Select 3DS MAX 9x 32-bit and press Next.
3. I'm not exactly sure which ones to do, but just select all of them on page 2 and press Next.
4. Skip the last page and continue to install.
5. Launch 3D Ripper DX.
6. Where it says "Please select DirectX 6/8/9 application to analize"(the first option at the top), press the folder to the right of it, find the Scarface folder you have installed on your drive and then press the Scarface.exe.
7. Press "Launch" at the bottom right of the program and, if did correctly, you should have no problems!

Well, it is clean and all that stuff, and the installation plus the crack, works great, but if u run a win 7 64-bit system, then it is like impossible to play the game. Cuz it's a single core game or something like that. Even if u change your core shit at msconfig (which I did), it still won't work. The grapics apear like huge squares. The upload offcourse is great, for win xp. Good job gablu1996!

3. UNTICK ALL BOXES in DX3DRipper
4. Launch
Runs on win7 x64 so thanks to xKarnage for advice.
