id hazard a guess that this is dodgy, last thing ive downloaded in a few days, not made any system changes or installed any other game or application, downloaded last night couldnt install so i gave up, switched the PC on this morning and my AV software has gone crazy wont scan wont download updates, leaving me with no option to reinstall. apon install when i tried installing this again it found a downloader.exe within the setup. deleted this settlers folder and everything is fine

This is a .RAR/.7z file, so there's no way anything can autostart when you "install" the game (btw, it's called extract)

I couldn't get it to work :(
I tried the bin folder, running S2DNG.exe, but got the error message:
"This application has failed to start because d3dx9_29.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
Person who ULed this, can you clarify, do you need extra software to actually install the game? The torrent comments are pretty unclear. I'd really like to see how this classic old game holds up to my memory.

Download DirectX and reinstall it.
The error message you've got is a common DirecX error that often comes when starting riped games.
