game loaded fine but everytime I try and play I get a blue and black screen that has fallout3 in the top corner. I have let it sit for at least 20 minutes and nothing happens. Downloaded, scanned, mounted whit newest deamond tool (dont know if its needed but i did cloack the divice whit y.a.s.u anyways), played the game. it is fun game (§ ½ you bring the console down if you want to use cheats and so on, dont fall for fuckers who try to give you shit be trying to fool you whit files of cheat cods that is bases on *.exe files, simply Google fallout 3 cheats) it is worth the time d-loding it if you like this kind of game. many houres of game fun. if you realy like it support the game maker by giving them the earned $$$ for the game so they can contune makeing them :)

Very easy to install/run..only needed Daemon Tools..no messing around with anything else.
Only had one crash so far, not too far into the game, but thats really not a problem as long as you save regularly (which if you play any RPG's you should be used to anyway). Much appreciated...good game :D

Ok, after my first post I started to get alot of random crashes, meaning I'd have to CAD and start again every few mintues...very annoying.

Well , once u get out of the vault , the game really kicks in , CPU wise , cuz the geometry , effects , view distance is much larger then inside the vault .
A normal Pentium4 could easilly run fallout 3 inside the vaul but would completly melt outside , almost to the point of not beeing able to move
. You need to adjust your video settings accordingly to ur CPU capacity . My guess is that ur pushing Fallout 3 video specs to high .
Fallout 3 is problably one of the most demanding games when it comes to CPU requirements

Hey guys, I'm not sure how they did it, but apparently Zenimax is monitoring this torrent somehow or another. I got an e-mail from my ISP yesterday (Charter Communications - been about a week since I downloaded the torrent) and they had an e-mail attached that they had gotten from Zenimax (who owns Bethesda) saying that they had detected a download of "Fallout3.iso" from my IP address and went on to quote all the copywrite laws etc, and gave the final "fix it or else". Before download make sure about your computer resources (in windows , just click right mouse button on my computer and choose properties).
To find out about graphic card go to creators page and find out about it or visit wikipedia (somet of cards are described there) .
About install its pretty simple, im using windows 7 and deamon tools worcked great , no errors.
About launching , my computer has anti - virus named kaspersky and game crashes in every time i launch it With kaspersky on , because kaspersky ask for making application trusted every time and freezes the game , so try disconnect internet , turn anti - virus off and launch game.
it also gives error every timr i turn game off , but that doesn't give effect to anything.

I am installing the game now. I tried mounting the image, and that seemed to bring up the install menu. It's installing now, but it freezes up on some thing, such as meshes, direct x. So I found those things in the windows task manager, and ended the process. But rather than stopping the whole installation process, it started installing again. So we'll see if it works.

For those of you having problems with xlive.. I was having problems too and a few things seemed to have solved it.
I updated my .net framework to v3.5 SP1:

Then re-installed, patched to 1.6 US and then to 1.7 US. FOSE loader doesn't give any errors about missing DLLs anymore either. Hope it helps some of you. You can disable GFWL:
PS: Fallout3 is an RPG first and a shooter second. Learn the genre before comparing it to Borderlands? lol.
PPS: There's a massive mod community, don't like it vanilla? Then try modding it.

for those of you who have freezing / crashing problems:
1. open up the fallout.ini file in: My Documents\My Games\Fallout3
find the line:
bUseThreadedAI=0
change it to:
bUseThreadedAI=1
add another line after it and insert:
iNumHWThreads=2
this will limit the game to 2 cores and prevent the engine bug from causing the game to freeze, because apparently the engine has some issues with processors that have more than 2 cores.

Hey guys please read my review of this torrent.
Okay. i mounted it and everything, but when i get to play the game, the beginning videos are very laggy(maybe its just my computer), the games runs ok in the beggining of the vault and once you get to the quest where you escape the vault, it froze and crashed about over 8 times until i got to megaton where i finally said, F*** it. it might just be my computer but i think i have a good enough computer to run a game like this. (I have tried the note pad thing where you limit the cores). Just keep that in mind guys, and thanks for reading my review

The only thing I did was install and run DirectX setup, that's it. The only thing I can advise for those people that get crashes is to place the lowest amount of graphic settings. Its the only thing i can think of...

For those having trouble with fallout 3 crashing when clicking on "new game" with a message saying, "fallout3 has stopped working," and have exhausted all solutions that has been posted in comments, it is most probably because you have a integrated graphics card and unfortunately fallout 3 will only run on a dedicated graphics card. Solution is to install the game on different computer w/ dedicated graphics card.

HOW I FINALLY MADE THIS WORK -
At first , i just mounted it and ran the setup but when i started the game through the installed folder on my PC , it wouldn't work (some error came) so i launched it from the mounted file only. BUT , in the intro itself THE GAME FROZE. I TRIED PLAYING IT LIKE A GAZILLION TIMES BUT IT STILL FROZE. My PC is new and prettty good so obviously no fault there. So i just uninstalled the game and gave up.
THEN I tried again -
1. Mounted it using Power ISO (better than daemon tools since it supports more formats)
2. I went to the DXREDIST folder and clicked on the setup there which INSTALLED SOME MAIN DIRECT X COMPONENTS NEEDED TO RUN THE GAME.
3. After this , I DID NOT INSTALL THE GAME , i just clicked on FalloutLauncher.exe from the mounted disk itself and this time it ran without freezing in the intro.

I couldn't stand the bullshit people were saying about how I just couldn't run it and buy a new computer. I played New Vegas before getting this so yeah thats retarded. I don't know why it crashes but apparently it has to do with Intel integrated graphics, possibly works with other integrated graphics if you're having the same problem but I haven't tested it. Download the file I posted the link for at the end of this, just put it in your Fallout 3 folder and use the Fallout 3 launcher. Make sure it thinks you're running a Nvidia Geforce xxxx. I guess it tricks the game into thinking that you have a dedicated video card. Don't know, don't care, it works. If you're running a multiple core processor, check the comments for the '.ini' trick. Also the original forum said to delete your saved games before using the 'd3d9.dll' trick but seeing as the game crashes before starting a new game, that won't be a problem. guys don't worry if u guys don't have a Recommended or minimum graphic card the thing is that that stuff doesn't matter okay i play fear 3 and i have Intel hd graphics and the game works no lag!! srtest says it will be slow on my computer!! srtest doesn't say if it will work or not but how slow it will be and the minimum requirements are for running it on the highest quality the game offers that is why i have a solution to this problem run it on the lowest quality if your graphic card is not that new and if it still lags you will need virtual ram and the way you get that is by following these steps:
1. go on start on the bottom left of the screen
2. right click on computer and go to properties
3. wait until something pops up
4.the thing that pops up should be the control panel of your system
5.then on the top right of the control panel there should be a thing called "advanced system settings" click it!!
6. it should open up i thing called system properties then go to advanced
7. once there there should be a button called "settings" right under performance and click it
8. after it should show you performance options and there should be another advanced button click it
9. then there should be a thing on the bottom that says virtual memory and a button that says change click it!!!
10. then uncheck the automatically manage file size for drivers
11. then check the custom size and choose how many mb u want to use then set it. (don't worry it only takes up hard drive memory when playing game and gives it back when your done)
12. then have fun (if game still lags the hard drive is to old or if game is illegally downloaded the game is might be the problem)

yes, it definetly can play it on high graphics. I have a 2 gig ram and I run it on high and the FPS ain't perfect, but it's very playable. New Vegas is another story though, I don't know why though, since it's basically almost the same graphics.

The chances are if your graphics card is not listed in the supported list, then it is not supported and won't let you play the game. Sometimes this can be bypassed by updating or even downgrading your drivers, but most of the time you need to install a supported card.

Okay for people that are having crashing problems here are the fixes that worked for me(I'm not taking credit for these. I did not find them or make them. These are from other comments.) Here's what you do:
Install the game,
do this: "1. open up the fallout.ini file in: My DocumentsMy GamesFallout3
find the line:

add another line after it and insert:

this will limit the game to 2 cores and prevent the engine bug from causing the game to freeze, because apparently the engine has some issues with processors that have more than 2 cores."
Then if it still crashes(esp. when you click new game) then download and install this:
That makes the game think that you're running a NVIDIA GeForce video card. The game doesn't work with Intel cards(or with people like me who have dual video cards with one of them a Intel) but that fixes that.
Then just play and enjoy! Thank you to the people who found those fixes!

Whenever I start a new game it shows the HUD of the game and than freezes instead of going through the cut scene. How can I stop this?

I figure I'd just dumb down what zebk up there said because it gets pretty funky to set up if you dont have a pre-compatable rig

If you're having any number of crashing problems, these are things you can do in order to remedy the situation
(I am [and by extension WE ARE] not taking credit for these. I/We did not find them or make them. These are from other comments.)
Here's what you do:
Obviously, Install the game. Since it's a full iso, this won't be hard - simply mount it using Daemon Tools or %120 Alcohol
IF YOU CRASH, TRY THIS FIRST
1. Open up the file "FALLOUT.ini". It will appear without the file extension - simply "FALLOUT" (You can locate this by navigating to - "My Documents > My Games > Fallout3)
Open it, and a notpad with code should open. Find the line:
bUseThreadedAI=0
(Easy trick -- "Ctrl+F" copy and paste the above into the text box)
change it to:
bUseThreadedAI=1
add another line after it and insert:
iNumHWThreads=2
Save and close
Why?
"This will limit the game to 2 cores and prevent the engine bug from causing the game to freeze, because apparently the engine has some issues with processors that have more than 2 cores."
------What that means basically is that the game wont run if you have more than a specific number of cores. This is due to an unspecified reason, however you just coded the game to only run on 2 cores, the maximum it is allowed to run on-------
SECOND CRASH (IF YOU CLICK ON NEW GAME AND, UPON SEEING THE LOADING SCREEN FOR A FEW SECONDS, YOU RECEIVE THE "Fallout 3 has stopped working" ERROR)
DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THIS:

--click the link in "1)," follow the mediashare to download the necessary files
The rest is a pretty convoluted set of directions. The download also comes along with a number of other compressed .dll files that are optional - these only maximize your fps count, you can do this later if you like. If you're not familiar with chipsets and other crap it may be a little difficult so basically here's how you do it...
1. Winrar the file labelled d3d9.dll
2. Move (or copy paste) the above file the Fallout 3 directory folder (Located -- C: > Program Files(x86) > Bethesda Softworks > Fallout 3)
That makes the game think that you're running a NVIDIA GeForce video card. Since, once again, the game, for some reason, doesn't work with specific hardware. This "tricks" your computer into thinking you are using the hardware you need, even thought the hardware you really have is perfectly capable of running this game.
Then just play and enjoy!

WTF Please help someone, anyone. What happened is after i click new game and it loads a bit then it brings up a black screen then cancels out. it dosent say anything, just crashes after i press new game.
i downloaded the torrent, mounted it , installed it, and all that, then tried both fallout3.exe and falloutlauncher.exe and both crashed after it loaded a new game.

This torrent is absolute garbage! I know my comp can run this I play Skyrim on here constantly... I am hardly a noob at torrents. Downloaded the game followed all the steps, game wouldn't run unless in windowed mode, figured that out, then it freezes every two damn minutes. NOT worth the hassle. May bee there is a way around the freezing but a torrent shouldn't be this hard to play. I actually took the time out and finally made an PB account to post this comment. poor upload

works good on windows8 64 bit for me,no crashes after 3-4 hours.
only had one issue,game ran in window mode and there was no option to change that..solution for that is: press ALT AND TAB at the same time and the game will switch to full screen.

For anyone having issues with the game freezing. I am running Windows 7, and was having issues with the game freezing during the first cutscene in the hospital room with the dad. I tried changing the settings in the fallout.ini file as many have already posted, but that did not help. What I did that seems to have fixed it for me is to run the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3. If you need to know how to do this, go into the main game directory. Find the Fallout3.exe file. Right click it and select Properties. Go to the Compatibility tab. Check 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:'. Select Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
