Description:

5 Card Stud (1968): Western, Mystery, Intrigue, Maurice Jarre score, Dean Martin, Roddy McDowell, Robert Mitchum. Scene: a barbershop; Dean Martin's character is looking at the prices. Sign: "Shave $1, Haircut $2, Shampoo $3, Miscellaneous $20" Dean: "Miscellaneous...$20? ...What's 'miscellaneous'?" Lady: "Something you didn't ask for." Dean: "Many people ask for it?" Lady: (seductively) "It sells well." -- Sly, smart writing like that fills "5 Card Stud"; and, backdropped by Maurice Jarre's lilting soundtrack, it's a pleasure to listen to. Like all good westerns, the actresses are also very easy on the eyes. Video Source ..........: Special Edition WS HD-DVD Video Codec ...........: XviD, CQ3, LEM, DideesSixOfNine-HVS Frame Size ............: 704x480, 837x480 Anamorphic DAR FPS ...................: 23.976, 2908Kbps video, 3985Kbps total Audio 2.0: English, French: NTSC; German, Italian, Spanish: recovered from PAL DVDs and retimed from 25.000 to 23.976 so Dean Martin doesn't sing the title cut like a tenor instead of a soprano. Subtitles: English, Spanish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Turkish.
