Rowland S. Howard (1959-2009) - plus: Boys Next Door - These Imm

These three clips were aired on the ABC (Australia overnight music show "Rage" in tribute to Rowland S. Howard (of The Birthday Party fame) who died in Melbourne on December 30, 2009. Boys Next Door (later The Birthday Party) - "Shivers", written by Howard (performance recorded for Channel 7 Melbourne rock show "Nightmoves") These Immortal Souls - "Marry Me" (promo clip) Rowland S. Howard - "Exit Everything" (1999 performance on ABC show "The 10.30 Slot" - thankfully with Dylan Lewis' pathetic introduction edited off). These are presented exactly as they were aired, in standard digital broadcast definition (DVD-compatible mpeg2). Please enjoy, whether in remembrance or discovering this music for the first time.... I have kept the clips separate so they can be downloaded individually or all at once. And a special shout out to Mr Garfield who I suspect will be all over these, and is welcome back in Australia any time.

Thanks for sharing this footyshorts. I'd never heard Rowland S. Howard's stuff in "These Immortal Souls" (or solo) until I saw these live clips aired on Rage ... you can imagine how disappointed I was when I looked him up and discovered that he had just passed away days earlier.
Let's hope his unreleased & unavaliable stuff can live on, online, so everyone can enjoy it now and into the future.

Hey bigbucket, I appreciate your comments. As you know Rage's presentation is very sparse, so aside from the 'tribute' message at the start there was no indication as to why they were showing so much Birthday Party stuff. With their airing of the complete "Pleasure Heads" video I'm sure some viewers must have thought Nick Cave had died. This upload seems to have attracted quite a bit of attention, but I do wish people wouldn't be so selfish and would help seed once they've downloaded it. Even to a ratio of 2 would be excellent. I won't be seeding it forever - sooner or later it is up to the fans to take over or it will die.

Hey Footyshorts, do you have any albums, such as Rowlands Teenage Snuff Movie? His stuff is so good and after just seeing a doco on the abc "Autoluminescent" I just want as much of his stuff as I can find.
