There are tons of great postapocalyptic comics out there. The best imho are Nausicaa (manga by Miyazaki, also a beautiful anime movie, but the manga is very different) and Legend of Mother Sarah (very hard to find in English). Other great futuristic comic books are Akira (the manga is much better than the movie imho) and Battle Angel Alita (a must read).
