i downloaded this from the official website and I cant get the MOD to work.I have JEDI ACADEMY installed and runninng.When i launch the KNIGHTS OF THE FORCE exe my computer just freezes.Then says its the wrong file format. My computer runs of vista home premium. Any ideas?

Avast antivirus (updated 24 July 2008) marks three files as trojans on install - Missions.exe, Settings.exe, and some other .exe in the same "Menu" folder. I downloaded the installer from the original site (www.kotf.com) and got the same trojan warnings.

When I try to unrar the files, the process stops at 99% and the whole system gets stuck! WTF is that? Also I've read a lot of alligations about viruses and trojans on this one. My antivirus didn't spot anything on initial scan, but I neither installed the game to check it thoroughly. I think I am going to put this one in a rubbish bin. Just a noob question for the end, can a virus or trojan corrupt the system if the game hasn't been fully installed?

Some of anti-virus programs find the file named cmdow.exe inconvenient which is helping cd menu to run but i assure you its not a virus, dont worry about that. Besides a broad explanation about this subject can be found here

If you get Trojan error about files :

Settings.exe
NpcAdd-Remove.exe
Missions.exe
LaunchMP.exe

just ignore it. Trojan-gen {Delphi} a false alarm. Some antivirus programs are heavy accurate and sometimes it makes wrong results. KotF is not virus or trojan.

About KotF HideEXEC.BD : Let me explain this to you. This file type/extension comes from cmd windows, or prompt windows. Part of the software used to develop kotf, and/or the menus was a cmd file. HideExec is a "sub-pgrogram" used by the whole CD-Menu-Structure. As you can see, when u are navigating in the different menus, the hideexec closes and opens all these Menus/Submenus over cmd commands. (Have a look in the folders, there you can see some .exe Files - the different menu-points)

Can someone explain a little this a little better? Im stillnot quite sure what exactly this is supposed to do. Is tyhis just something to make it a little prettier & fancier, Or does this actually change the whole game around, from what ive read on the website i got the impression this practically makes it a whole different game in a way kinda making it as if your pplaying your way thru the star wars movies, is this incorrect? Any better exxplaination of what this does would be great, peace.

Yes it does make the game "prettier and fancier" and then some. Imagine playing ANY character from the Star wars universe. All the characters skins are exact replicas of their movie counterpart. Choose on the fly any single, double or dual blade lightsaber. And from a collection of all the jedi's/Sith hilts.
Plus many countless more tweaks to make it better. Theres also about 50 different scenes from the flicks to battle multiplayer or solo, with movie music playing.
For a guy who spent over 4 years to make it then give it away, I think its freaking great. I downloaded it when it first came out and am still battling on new boards.
Let it download over night and try it out. If you dont like it then delete it. Cant really lose anything. i suggest downloading the torrent from KOTF.com since it's seeding at almost 200kbs.

I downloaded this yesterday night....got it installed,it worked the first time,but spybot agent found malware in it...i skipped it...the second time i tried to open the game,it did nothing...i tried to reboot the system..and guess fucking what????IT WOULDN'T LOG ON WINDOWS!!not even in safe mode...i use nod32, spybot and comodo firewall....DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT AND INSTALL IT!FUCK OFF AND DIE YOU COCKSUCKER I WILL STICK MY MEAT-SABER IN YOUR ASS

it works but has bugs and i think your virus came from elsewhere. if anyone can figure out how to key the mouse binds after leaving the menu or quitting would help alot....it refuses to keep jump as mouse 2. ive tried read only on the jaconfig.cfg after editing the bind in, no success...

The author may have put supposedly half a decade making this BUT if the Hoth battle is any indication as to the level of sophistication used, you can skip it entirely. The software load program is impressive though as are all the added menu features.
WARNING: Avast 5 reports c_ExtraMaps.pk3 file in GameData\base directory to be a Decompression Bomb, so this thing wasn't assembled very well.

Really should remove this torrent. It's nothing against you, but this thing is filled with viruses. It's not just false readings on anti-virus software either. Ask around on some JKA forums, this thing is riddled with trojans. I've read that when you try and uninstall it adds 13 trojans.... Thanks but no thank DV.
