Description:

Opie and Anthony CBS/XM/Sirius show commercial-free uncensored 64k mp3 - they just left again today without signing off. A couple of encoding experiments here: First is today's show in 64k stereo mp3 pro (99MB's). I'm not planning on using it but wanted some responses to it. It's unfortunate it never caught on, but the mp3 pro concept was great. It's backwards compatible with MP3 players, but only at 22KHz 64k stereo. There's a codec for Winamp (and one for Linux) but therein lies the problem as it has weak codec support. With said codec, you are getting 44.1KHz 128k mp3 quality playback (mp3pro is 128k mp3 quality at 64k) out of a 64k sized file. http://rapidsh*are.com/files/172451803/2008-12-11-O_A_CF64KPRO.mp3 (Remove the *) Here's the Winamp plugin. It's old but works with newer versions of Winamp. Try it without the codec first (you'll see 22KHz sampling) and then extract/install it and try it at full quality. http://www.mp3prozone.com/assets/mp3PROAudioDecoder.exe Second experiment is a 128Kvbr stereo mp3 (189MB's). http://rapidsh*are.com/files/172471911/2008-12-11-O_A_CF128Kvbr.mp3 (Remove the *) Let me know what you think....

somethings fishy, leaving earlier than usual, not really officially leaving the fm side and just saying "we'll be back after the break", getting a new studio, no more LOTD, and not even doing WDWL the past couple days. hmmm speculate speculate blind cc blind cc

i downloaded the 128kvbr stereo file and gave it a bit of a listen and the quality sound phenomenal even through my shitty cheap headphones

elmica (2008-12-12)

Hi goose i been downloading your fine torrents for a year but this is my first comment. I was being a shy boy. Love u mother!

john2340 (2008-12-12)

I'm all for this second experiment is a 128Kvbr stereo mp3 (189MB's)

mrdtown (2008-12-12)

Thanks for the response to my question yesterday, I appreciate you taking the time to answer. And as always, thanks for the upload. Love the boys in 128

Sk00p (2008-12-12)

I'm more of a fan of the 64k, only because I take my stuff on the run, it's on my iPod at work and such, but I'd still probably DL the 128 vbr's.

mancation (2008-12-12)

the only bad thing about the 128 is the file size. (for those of us who have slower connections) i already re encode so that i can transfer it from my house to work and not take 3 hours.
the option is nice though...as long as it is not a big strain on the connection you originally place it on.
i cant wait till they run fiber by me!

jonnychadootz (2008-12-13)

Casting my vote for the 128K VBR :) The 64K isn't bad but compared to the 128K, the 64K has an apparent flattening of sound especially when any music is being played. I have no problem @ all with a lil bit bigger file size for that much of a quality difference. Good Stuff MG :) Nice to know that u give a shit :) TY Once again.
To Mancation:
What kinda connection do u have? I have a basic cable connection and I dload O&A torrents in literally a matter of minutes 700+ KB/S (1.8 Meg/S max connection). Even the shittiest DSL connection these days is 512KB/S. Please tell me u r not talking about dial up cause I've pretty much written that off as non-existent anymore :) What speeds do u get?

mancation (2008-12-13)

i have cable. the down isn't the problem. (around 500) its the 50 up that is the problem. i guess i like to feel like i contribute back with some uploading... :-/
and also i down at home (no TPB at work) then grab it from my house over FTP.
no big deal...i can re encode 128 to smaller for my own use. i was just wondering if the larger file size would have a strain on the original uploader?

jonnychadootz (2008-12-13)

Damn.. Sorry to hear that Man. 50KB up that's :(
As for it straining the original up loader , I doubt it cause the O&A torrent community seems to be pretty good @ seeding :) It's the Hit and Run leechers that screw it up for every1.

souled (2008-12-13)

mancation: check your router and make sure u dont have any NAT problems, just google download torrents faster...MG: 128 is dope sounds siiiiiick im for it

mancation (2008-12-13)

unfortunately that is just my connection...not just torrents. ports are all forwarded properly. Verizon is supposed to run fiber pretty soon so that should kick ass.
i even tried to buy more speed, but all they offered was a business account that was not much better for over twice the price.
i will try some tweaks.
kinda crazy...calling my speed slow :-) its come so far...so fast.
