Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (sometimes abbreviated to ST: DS9 or DS9) is a science fiction television program that premiered in 1993 and ran for seven seasons, ending in 1999. Rooted in Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek universe, it was created by Rick Berman and Michael Piller, at the request of Brandon Tartikoff, and produced by CBS Television Distribution. The main writers, in addition to Berman and Piller, included show runner Ira Steven Behr, Robert Hewitt Wolfe, Ronald D. Moore, Peter Allan Fields, Bradley Thompson, David Weddle, Hans Beimler, and René Echevarria. A spin-off from Star Trek: The Next Generation, DS9 began while its parent series was still on the air, although there were few crossover episodes between the two shows. In addition, two Next Generation characters, Miles O'Brien and (from Season 4 onwards) Worf, became regular members of DS9. Unlike the other Star Trek programs, DS9 took place on a space station instead of a starship, so as not to have two series with starships at the same time (the starship USS Defiant was introduced in season 3, but the station remained the primary setting for the show). This made continuing story arcs and the appearance of recurring characters much more feasible. The show is noted for its well-developed characters and its original, complex plots. Set between the years 2369–2375, the series depended on darker themes, less physical exploration of space, and an emphasis (in later seasons) on many aspects of war.

All of these files have to be re-encoded in xvid format to be watchable on my console dvd player.
Doing a fast recompress in virtualdub cuts the file sizes in half also.
Yet another ripper who doesn't really understand what they're doing.

@oasis: Really? Half size after "one pass" in Vdub doesn't even *mean* anything. First of all, avi's suck - you can't package advanced codecs (with much better bitrate-quality ratios) into an AVI. Secondly, why are you one-passing them? Thirdly, the audio isn't off. WTF. YOU suck at pirating.

This is by far the best series of the star trek universe. The motivations of the characters are apparent and one understands the choices made in context of something other than some chivalrous need to display "future humanity"'s advanced sense of morality to the rest of the cosmos.

can't be sure but there might be something wrong with this torrent if there is only one seeder for every 10 leech
normally with something this size you'd see 5:1 if everything checked out in the download
I will have a peek at one or two episodes but for right now I will also try a different torrent just to be safe

Alright, I've taken a look at the first season, the audio does work, but the video quality is not as good as the individual season torrents that are available, and it took a long time to download even that much. I'll seed what I've taken as much as I can, but I would recommend you download the .mkv's of the individual seasons, they look a lot better.
