Description:

By request: 'nyasangosi' nyasangosi at 2011-07-26 17:32 CET: You are great, man. would you be kind enough to get me " Failed State- Abuse of Power and Assault of Democracy" by Noam Chomsky? Thanks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Noam Chomsky, Failed States: The Abuse of Power and the Assault on Democracy Publisher Metropolitan Books 2006 ISBN 0805079122 PDF 314 pages 24.1 MB The world’s foremost critic of U.S. foreign policy exposes the hollow promises of democracy in American actions abroad—and at home The United States has repeatedly asserted its right to intervene against “failed states” around the globe. In this much anticipated sequel to his international bestseller Hegemony or Survival, Noam Chomsky turns the tables, charging the United States with being a “failed state,” and thus a danger to its own people and the world. “Failed states” Chomsky writes, are those “that do not protect their citizens from violence and perhaps even destruction, that regard themselves as beyond the reach of domestic or international law, and that suffer from a ‘democratic deficit,’ having democratic forms but with limited substance.” Exploring recent U.S. foreign and domestic policies, Chomsky assesses Washington’s escalation of the nuclear risk; the dangerous consequences of the occupation of Iraq; and America’s self-exemption from international law. He also examines an American electoral system that frustrates genuine political alternatives, thus impeding any meaningful democracy. Forceful, lucid, and meticulously documented, Failed States offers a comprehensive analysis of a global superpower that has long claimed the right to reshape other nations while its own democratic institutions are in severe crisis, and its policies and practices have recklessly placed the world on the brink of disaster. Systematically dismantling America’s claim to being the world’s arbiter of democracy, Failed States is Chomsky’s most focused—and urgent—critique to date.

You always make me ashamed Sir, as your required titles never belong with me. Sorry ... But I'll search further in my old HDDs and that job is too lengthy and boring.
I was thinking why are you so much interested about the sociology of my country?

Added to OD List. Will upload if possible ...

g8mate (2011-07-28)

I know it's on French language "Janus: les deux faces de l'Occident" Maurice Duverger but I figure out that in English this book is translated like "Modern Democracies: Economic Power Versus Political Power" ??!! Might be that this is the same book ?? Thanks for efforts mate :D

g8mate (2011-07-28)

No, it's not the same book. That's completely other book from Maurice Duverger. I look for "Janus" if there's any on English :)

_F1_, you the best!!! I can't believe I have this book when I need it most. Thank you!! I am from Malawi-a small poor and poorly-governed country in the Southern Africa and I would never get the chance to read this timeless piece which will help me influence a few.

_F1_ , thanks and keep up the good work. I don't want to make it a habit but since you encouraged me 'to be around' I have another wish to make: "The Meme Machine by Suzan Blackmore."

nyasangosi, if you feel you are bugging me by making continuous request - you are TOTALLY WRONG. Requests actually encourages uploaders and an uploader feel the same excitement uploading a requested content as the requester feels after getting the same. Only - don't get disappointed if any uploader fails to keep your request as nobody has everything in this world. A true file sharer will always try to keep requests, so, don't hesitate to make another.

Any chance you could upload "The Naked Ape" by Desmond Morris. It came out in 1967 so I thought it would be in the public domain, but apparently the publisher has not stopped making money on it yet.
