Do these different 'RAR Repair' software repair at all?
I doubt they do after having tested them out on three different RAR files containing movies. The RAR files have successfully passed QuickPar, but still would exhibit some CRC errors. After testing three different 'RAR Repair' software, I have noticed the following:
The 'RAR Repair' programs do not appear to repair anything, but instead they only seem to unpack the RAR files while keeping the broken files - instead of discarding the broken files. No more and no less. No magic repair of the RAR files themselves.
These programs seem to be doing the same as the feature you can find under the normal WinRAR program. By right-clicking a RAR file, then click "Extract files" and then check a box you can see below named “Keep broken files”. WinRAR then unpacks and keeps the broken files, and these files turn out exactly the same as the files do after having run the same broken RAR files through these so called 'RAR repair' software. The difference is that WinRAR hasn’t claimed to repair anything.
Though it must be said that WinRAR has a repair function for CRC errors also, but when this feature on WinRAR fails, I have not found any other software to be able to repair the CRC errors either.
(All movies have glitches in sound and video afterwards.)
