R.I.P. Steve Jobs

Nihilist0 (2011-10-28)

Steve Jobs was an asshole...
Sorry, but it needs to be said :-)

Is this widescreen?

MrSmartyPants (2011-12-08)

Nihilist0 IS an asshole.
Not sorry... - It needs to be said.
Easy for you to spout off smart-ass comments about a man who did an incredible amount in his lifetime, while you sit at home leeching movies and software.
Classy. And mature. And real respectful.
Asshole.

Sound seems just ever-so-slightly out of sync with the video. It's difficult to notice and even if you do it doesn't really matter, but... yeah.

AMV4CBN8M (2012-03-06)

Steve Jobs was alright, his sister Hand was better but.

highlander888 (2012-03-31)

Thanks for the upload. Great documentary.
Shows the human side of Steve and Bill. Things I didn't know before.

StraussWylde (2012-05-28)

Thanks for torrent.
It's filled with many inaccuracies so don't believe everything you see, especially the later years. Many dialogs were out of place with real events. You can even compare the in-movie Macworld event to the real one on YouTube.
Also the info at the end was wrong. Microsoft never owned any part of Apple. It was an investment into non-voting shares.

virtualmatrix258 (2012-06-27)

Steve Jobs is the biggest cunt in the I.T. industry. Everyone knows Steve Wozniak is the brains of the technology behind iPod's and iPhone's. The brand that made Apple on top. Fuck Jobs. Glad his ass is dead.

@ mrsmartypants, I dont comment much here but youve inspired me. Whatd Jobs do that was so profound? He aint Edison, Ford or the Wright brothers, he didnt cure cancer or negotiate mid east peace, many say Wozniak was the sole n whole brains of the architecture of the product. Despite the adoration of members of the cult of apple, Jobs's signifigance in business, computer world and the world at large is infinitesimal next to Gates. Planes land n takeoff w/ ms, harbours run on it, infrastructure runs on it. If ya wanna view it as a competition Gates is the Jordan era Bulls and Jobs was a 5th grade girls squad. Even now when apples at their highest ever financial success and ms near their worst, the world runs on ms. Sure Id rather hold apple stock (for now) but theyre a snooty lil niche market, overpriced, sure all shiny and everything matches, and OMG throwing the letter "i" in fronta everything sheer genius, but theyre pretentious POS for prius driving posers. Btw Im no fan of either corp, both whored out to the govt, both sell crudely designed and built products and dont spend diddley on R&D, hey why should they when they can use us to do it not only for free, but we actually pay them to do so. Jobs kept apple on life support thru the giant cyber boom durin which Gates was for a moment the richest man on earth. And for being a leading edge computer visionary it took a cell phone and a digital walkman to save his company, and Ill grant the iphone IS a computer. He was a packaging and marketing guy, and a ruthless businessman who practiced some slimey n exclusionary tactics which only served to make him $$ and which hurt the consumer, and by all accounts he would walk over or sell out anyone for an extra nickel, and if ya care to allege he was the best ever at those, ok fine. But how is being a sleezy salesman so incredible to you? Stop drinking the kool aid man

backwordsman81 (2013-11-09)

@phisher1631 Ill be completely honest. up until I saw the movie iSteve on netflix with Justin Long a few months ago I didnt even know who Steve Jobs was. I mean I knew the name, I knew he was the apple founder but that was it. I also knew I didnt own any apple products what so ever. I never comment anywhere in fact I just registered here to comment on what you said. Since i watched iSteve I have watched every documentary I could find on Steve Jobs, every interview, articles on line. I have researched and researched because I was so mind blown at how influential this man has been on our society! Everything we use today was made possible by his genius. He is Edison! He is all of those people! When the entire world was set in its ways he made the impossible possible. He fought and he fought to bring technology that before was never dreamed of. From the design of the apple pc which was far beyond anything at that time to the mac, which bill gates stole from him. He was a perfectionist and never settled with bad products or software. he was hands on with every endeavor. He created the mp3 player. it doesnt matter if you have never had a ipod brand mp3 player, he created that technology! He created the tablet, the Iphone. It doesnt matter if you own one of his brand. He created that technology! When you swipe your finger on your phone to check your email or download a song or watch a movie you can thank Steve Jobs. because he thought it was possible and then made it possible. When you take your kids to see a cgi computer animation film Pixar or not you can thank Steve Jobs, in fact any movie you watch today you can thank him! because he founded and owned Pixar. And fought for years to have a CGI movie. The money he lost and invested in Pixar dam near killed him because they couldnt get the bigs worked out and had no backing. But he knew it was worth while! So he kept shelling out money till they figured it out and released Toy Story! He became a Chairman at Disney! He also took part in the creation of the laser printer. I could list for days. If Steve Jobs was never born we would not have any of our daily technology that apparently you take for granted. The argument between Bill gates aka Microsoft verses Steve Jobs is dumb. its like apples and oranges. get my pun? Microfoft is a software company. That pretty much it. They do not build anything. cept now there trying their hands at horrible phones, and the xbox. When you buy a mac its made by apple, sold by apple, put together by apple. Its a apple. but you dont buy a Microsoft. you buy a Dell or a Compaq, IBM perhaps, Toshiba, the list goes on. Thats why Microsoft was better known and used because anybody or company can put Microsoft software on their pc. They are not innovators, they just capitalized on the fact that they can and will sell their software to anyone. In fact their windows software usually sucks with the 1st service pack they release. Vista was horrible, Windows 8 is embarrassing! At the end of the day I don't have a mac. I have a dell, with windows. Why? compatibility! But that still doesnt change the fact that Steve Jobs had a dream, several dreams and each one was made a reality! he was a dick, an asshole, someone who only wanted to work extremely talented professionals and was incapable of bullshitting or wiping asses. He worked with the best and he was the best. So to phisher1631, get your facts straight. You dont have to like the guy, you dont have to buy his products, but he was the father of modern technology. He opened up the eyes of the world and we will never see things the same again.

Bronop (2013-11-29)

@backwordsman81
They had MP3 players before the iPod, tablets before the ipad, and smart phones before the iphone.
Steve Jobs' ideas on how we should interact with technology were only possible because another man (Gates) had the crazy notion of putting a "computer on every desk and in every home." Through a unified framework (windows) Gates showed people that a computer wasn't some alien entity of big enterprise and instead was something that should be on your desk and in your home. He showed us that powerful technology could be harnessed by everyone regardless of the box it came in and provided an operating system that made computing ubiquitous. You wouldn't have a computer in your pocket (the iphone) if the idea of a personal computer for everyone was still foreign.
By saying Steve Jobs was Edison you are saying that Edison didn't actually build any of the stuff he made. Instead, you are saying that Edison saw the practical lightbulb (among other things), had a vision to change it, and then asked other people to build it for him. He was an Edison that couldn't build stuff himself and a Picasso that got others to paint for him.
Steve Jobs had a vision of how people should interact with technology that became a reality after other people brought technology to the world.
Before we could "think different" we had to already know how to think.

I dont have an iphone. I have a Galaxy. But you are incorrect. Apple made the 1st ipod technology capable phone & decided shortly after to make a phone that had their OS on it. The android company caught wind of this crazy idea and raced to beat apple. But they failed. I dont understand the comparison or need to compare Jobs with Gates. I will never understand why people do that. Its like comparing apples with ginger-ale. One guy made computers, music players and phones. The other guy made nothing. Just ripped off peoples software and sat in a chair. I dont get it? All im saying is ive been a windows guy my whole life. I didnt give a rats ass about Steve Jobs. Hated iPhones, pads, pods or macs. But since seeing iSteve on Netflix and then the Ashton Kutcher film Jobs my eyes were open. As I stated before I have since read every article I could find, watched every documentary I could get my hands on. As well as interviews. The more I read and see the more amazed I become. Thanks for your post. I dug even deeper tonight at 4:30am. Tomorrow I will research more about Android and the google merger in efforts race to beat apple. You are correct about mp3. Asian companies 3 years prior to ipod released players that had major issues. Apple then released their product to become the 1st official mp3 player to be worth buying. Which to this day I have never owned. im a cd guy. And say what you will about Steve Jobs not "actually building things" I see it all the time. People keep on insisting that to be truth. All I can say to that is DEAD WRONG. Jobs was on the floor of every idea that he had working diligently to create it. Sure he had a team. He had a right hand man. And it wasnt waz. But he lead the team, and he was hands on. So I do not stand corrected. Edison? Dam straight. If Steve Jobs was never born your windows pc wouldnt exist right now. Jobs had ideas that people thought were so far from the realm of possibility, but he stuck to his guns to make those ideas come to life that now we as people will accept that anything possible. As the world gets bigger, and technology there will be not 1 single man who will invent something that will change the world, but teams and groups of men. But for every team, group, business, what have you, there will be leaders. Jobs was that man.

My obsession for knowledge of Steve Jobs and Apple has kept me up many nights. This is the 1st and hopefully only thing that I have researched this much. But my 1st post on here on 11-08-13 I had no apple products. As of now I am typing on a iMac5,1 iSight with a intel core 2 duo. I also have 2 imac g3 computers. Check this out. the imac g3 made in 1999 has a 330mhz processor 512mb ram. 40 gig hard drive.... I can search the internet, listen to music, hell I can watch videos on youtube! os x on the bastard! Blows my mind!

@MrSmartyPants
Jobs did an incredible amount in his lifetime. He was a highly intelligent, motivated and remarkable person.
...and he was an asshole. Accomplishment and virtue are not mutually exclusive. It is well known and well documented (even in his official biography) that he did treated others poorly, sometimes quite excessively. Does that make him stupid or unsuccessful? No. Does it make him an asshole? Yes.

psalm91sk (2014-03-25)

@Bronop Well Said...He was an Edison that couldn't build stuff himself, and a Picasso that had others to paint for him.
I feel like this movie from 1999 is a very accurate reenactment of the entire story. Films like "Jobs" released last year tried to depict Steve Jobs as "the inventor" or as the innovator that came up with the idea of the mp3 player before anyone else did first, which was false. Bronop is correct, these technologies existed before Steve Jobs had the "idea" of having apple jump on the bandwagon and start knocking out iPod MP3 players. I do think Steve Jobs was a visionary, and when he seen touch screen technology for the first time, he did see the big picture and the true potential behind it. But he was not the inventor that came up with the technology. We certainly would not be where we are at today in the lines of touch screen computers, phones, tablets, and other touch screen devices if he did not push Apple like he did while he was alive. Steve Jobs own words "Good artist copy, great artist steal." This has always been true and that is exactly what the Apple company is. They take a good thing and make it better.
Gates is also a visionary, and his dreams of everyone owning a computer system are a reality today. There is a PC hooked to a flat panel in nearly every room of my house today. Something I only dreamed of when I was a kid.
I also seem to remember seeing touch screen tablet computers on sci-fi when I was a child, so the concept of a touch screen computer has been a long time coming, an idea and concept not thought up by either Jobs or Gates.
I remember years ago when somebody asked Gates what the best Operating System was and he responded with "Linux". I thought that was a funny response at the time. But I will admit that I was also skeptical about mp3 when I seen it for the first time, and I was still using a sony walk-man and jamming cassettes.
Android is the future, whether you want to believe it's true or not. I seen a vending machine the other day running ubuntu Linux! I feel like Apple is going to be left on the side lines as more and more people embrace open source and Android based devices.
Just the other day Bill Gates made a comment about how software is going to effect the job industry. Guess what, what Bill Gates is talking about is happening right now. He said that over the next decade or so people are going to be losing their employment, because they will be replaced by an algorithm and software. Twenty years ago Bill was right about having a PC in every home today, I think his prediction will be accurate about this happening also.
Thx for the upload BONE!

John_Bonham (2014-04-12)

Jobs was a super salesman with a very advance sense of intuitive user's mindset simplicity bundled with some artistic bull shit on the side.
Gates is an awesome copy cat with a more utilitarian and practical approach to technology.
Their just the gate keepers...the true tech heroes are the engineers and programmers who actually build all this cool stuff we have now. Their just to boring to be spoken of that's why they don't get any real attention.
