I fixed it, I forgot I reduced my upload speed to 1 kB/s last month (I only get 250GB/month) so I wouldn't exceed my limit. I just put it back to 150 kB/s and now speeds are 500+ kB/s

As others note, you must tune your utorrent setup, and you must wait! A torrent swarm give priority to this in the swarm the longest, and this is one of the largest swarms I have ever seen. You need to set low priority so that you don't freeze your connection. You need to set you maximum upload to about 75% of your max upload on your broadband, and set download to maximum. Also, only run this one torrent and no others with it at the same time. it me a day to get it.
But wow it looks really good with xbmc and with vlc using an HTPC and HDMI output.

Yea....I tuned my uTorrent settings, Nothing else downloading. Got great speeds for about 40 seconds, now slower than before.

I suppose the PS3 should play the disc nicely, if I buy it, since it plays any other bluray disc.
But what options do I have with this setup without the bluray disc? (PC, LED TV, PS3) I don't have any external players for hooking up an external hard drive excluding the PS3, but I doubt that it will be of any help.

Perspolice: Since your video card supports DXVA, it's more than enough to play 1080p H264 content. Google "Media Player Classic - Home Theater" and use it since it's can make use of DXVA.

windchill07.... this is a blu-ray rip that is compressed. A full blu-ray rip, uncompressed is around 25 to 45gb in size. If the largest movie you have downloaded before was about 3.5gb, then your looking for a DVD rip, not a Blu-ray rip but, the quality of the Blu-ray rip is far better than a DVD rip though, if you want the better quality, then you have to pay with space.
This would be only the movie, as most blu-rips are around 10-15gb compressed for just the movie.
With that being said...PEOPLE !!! SEEED PLEASE !!!

I just finished downloading this movie and the quality is superb. However, 5mins through the movie, it stopped... Just stopped... You can jump to another scene but the video, is corrupted. This goes with my other downloads like It's Complicated, Legion and Crazy Hearts... I don't know but this has happened to my past downloads.
I just copy it from harddrive to my external hdd and play it on my Xtreamer media player...but now it's frustrating that for past week, all of my downloads are wasted. And the saddest part is that I max out my seed!
Are there anyone experiencing the same problem? Or has anyone able to finish this movie without hangs/stutter etc.?

AidyD: just so long as your video player can read/play a .mkv file with x.264 video and decode the DTS-HD audio you should be cool. I have no idea if a PS3 knows anything about .mkv file format. It will play with a popcorn hour media tank, WD TV Live box, an HTPC running vlc media player or xbmc. The bitrate is actually superb, and will probably tax hardware that is too old or that doesn't support hardware video decoding.

Just out of curiosity... what exactly is with all the hype over this movie? Don't get me wrong, I thought it was pretty good, but i would say it doesn't come close to living up to the hype.
Definitely not the "Greatest film ever" like so many people make it out to be. I'm into movie production, so I respect it from a technical standpoint, since they did use some pretty cool techniques in this. But other than that, I'd say it's nothing above average, it's not even an original plot.

Love this movie, I love it even more because of the hate following it.
I laughed hard at another website which people commented saying it's "Anti American". Honestly people, just enjoy it for what it is, there is no deep/revolutionary meaning, although you can interpret it as what you want, but the plot is staring at you in the face.
As for the hype, idk. It's a monumental movie and deserves it, if you don't think so, then that's okay! That's why we all have so many movies/music to choose from nowadays, we all got different taste.
And this story has been told again and again, but it keeps getting better IMO. :D

setting your upload to unlimited is great, but it doesn't leave you any room for normal web browsing which I like to do sometimes while I wait for it to download. I've found 60Kb upload to be the sweet spot in my case. 768kb translates to 96KB - 60KB which leaves me with about 36KB left for torrent overhead and a decent browsing experience. You will have to find out what works for you, but honestly 256kb up isn't much to work with. Only thing I would suggest is upgrade your connection with your ISP if that's possible.

A/V = spot on perfect. Unless you have 2 systems side by side you won't tell the difference from your armchair (even with a 100" screen)
VLC plays perfectly - has 2x english sub tracks included in the mkv file. And remember, these new codecs are much more efficient at compressing and decompressing video than that used by BR, so 1/4 size doesn't mean 1/4 quality

A tip for people who may want to play it on their Xbox 360 or even PS3 and don't want to use Media Server or something to stream (it can be quite slow for HD content).
What I did was use a program called "GotSENT". It converts the MKV container to an MP4 container (MP4 is compatible with both PS3/Xbox). The great thing about this is that there is NO re-encoding involved at all... so that means NO quality loss whatsoever. Same quality you downloaded... just changes the container from MKV to MP4 :)
Just a tip for someone who might want to watch off their external hard drives or whatever. The conversion itself takes a mere 15-20 mins (depending on your computer).
One thing I haven't figured out is getting the subtitles on the Xbox... hmm.. anyone got any tips?

Yea, sorry guys i know lots of ppl are doin the right thing and seeding. Listen i seem to have found the best settings for uTorrent 2.0.1. I was averaging 10-20KB/s dl now im getting 40-70Kb/s.

I created an English "Nav'i only" subtitle for this movie. It's perfectly lined up to the Nav'i parts. Problem is, I can't upload the damn torrent, because the CAPTCHA image won't show in Firefox OR Internet Explorer. HEY GUYS!! I found the SUBTITLES IN THE MOVIE!!!
In VLC Media Player, go to the "VIDEO" tab at the top of the screen and scroll down to "SUBTITLE TRACK" there will be three options: disable, english and english. By default the subtitles are disabled but if you check the first "english" then you get Navi subtitles only. But when you check the second "english" you get subtitles for the whole movie.

If your video player won't show the subtitles (or tv in my case) then go to this guide download the file, run MKVExtractGUI and extract track ID 3: Subtitle. I use shark007 codec pack and extracted subs as per Can_O_Whoopasss post........you will get a .srt file. Just rename that file the same as the film and have it in the same folder as the film. Then you will get Na'vi sub.
Works with Media player 11 (think it's 11.....comes with Windows 7) but not with media centre.
As for all the moaners........here's an idea if its taking you too long to download it.
Pop to your local walmart and spend your own $$$........remember this is free.

I honestly can't fault it, no errors or crap and you have to look REALLY close to see any compression artifacts.
To all those who are having these problems with subtitles they are present and work just fine. You should all be playing this with VLC Media Player, if you aren't then DOWNLOAD IT NOW. Click 'Video' then 'Subtitles Track' and choose the top english one for Na'vi only subs.
If the video or audio skips or freezes its because your computer is too slow NOT because the torrent is crap. I have a $4000 computer with 2 GTX275 graphics cards and video playback is quite fine.
Basically if you are having problems playing this it is your fault not the torrents.
If your download speed is slow go to page 11 of the comments i posted some recommended settings for uTorrent.

the release of the secret myth group stands no chance against this torrent quality-wise. it's not even possible due to the bitrates... 8200 kbps vs. ~2000 kbps video and AAC vs. DTS sound... those are huge dieeferences... on bigger screens with a high end sound system you will most likely see huge differences, so think before posting.
Nevertheless, for most movies these 2GB rips are enough as I got plenty of them as well, bus on larger creens they don't stand a chance against 1080p rips with high bitrates.

I've got the same "out-of-sync-problem" when using BS player and in VLC the video is lagging like hell... but this ISN'T caused by the video but by my computer... so no need to blame the file, try using other programs!
I've got the same problem with other 1080p movies with such high bitrates, so video is OK!

I finally finished this after a week of downloading. The quality truly is SUPERB. Absolutely beautiful. I've used GOTSent as someone else suggested to make it playable on my xbox 360 cos i usually hook my 360 up to my external HD.
One slight annoyance though. Great for supplying subtitles as softcoded, but because the fags at microsoft haven't added support for subtitles on the 360, i have no clue what they're saying during the Navi speaking parts. So maybe a copy with hardcoded navi subs would've been better but I can't really blame you for that because you would've probably suffered quality loss, much like I'll suffer quality loss if I hardcode them myself.
So once again, thanks for the great upload! Will continue to seed until I hit 3, then I'll have to delete cos the file's too large for my shitty laptop to handle ;)

I've been downloading for 2 days now and I'm at 60%. Where I'm from, the max download speed I can get is 200 kB/s. But with this torrent it was from 20 - 40kB. I did what someone else suggested, I just followed the first thing and the speed went up to 200 (as much as possible)! So if you're havin' the same problem as I did, do the following:
uTorrent: Go to 'Preferences' and select 'Bandwidth':
Set 'Global maximum connections' to '1000'
Set 'Maximum peers per torrent' to '250'
Set 'Number of upload slots to '4'
Hope this helps!! Will seed after I'm done - looks like in 5 hours! Yeahhhh =))

If you're using a LG tv, the problem is probably with the audio being DTS. LG tv's don't support this format.
So you need to download a program like popcorns audio converter (free) and follow the tutorial. Should fix you're problem in about 20 minutes

No offence, but you must be pretty stupid if you are having problems playing this file.
First of all it WORKS FINE. I can confirm this once and for all. Audio, video and subtitles all work fine.
Second, this is a HD movie, meaning it wont play smooth if at all on an old piece of shit computer, you need a decent dedicated graphics card. If your computer has trouble playing games it probably wont play this.
Third, why are you trying to play this on a fucking "Gay-station 3"???? throw that piece of shit in the garbage and buy a REAL gaming rig - a computer.
Fourth and finally USE VLC MEDIA PLAYER to play any media files. It literally plays everything in my 1TB+ media collection except .mov files, i don't think it plays those. .mp3, .wmv, .mp4, .wav, .iso (that's right it even plays .iso's of dvd video disks without the need to mount them in a virtual drive!), .mkv, .avi ect... everything!
So stop bitching and enjoy this movie!

I signed up to TPB just to post the fix-it ^_^

Right-click on the white Haali Media Splitter icon in the system tray (right-bottom of your screen). There you can select the subtitle that should be displayed.
If a subtitle is selected, but still not being displayed in Windows Media Player, then try enabling the option "Autoload VSFilter" in Haali Media Splitter. You can do that here: Start > Programs > K-Lite Codec Pack > Configuration > Haali Media Splitter > Options > Compatibility.
This fix applies to those with the K-Lite Codec pack installed. I'm not sure if it works for anything other than Media Player Classic but it should. ENJOY!!!!!

the A/V quality is superb but when i open it the
video & audio didnt sync very well, tried with vlc, kmplayer & divx player but nothing much happen.
is it my pc?
im using AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core 4200++ 2.20GHz. 2GB of RAM, with ASUS GeForce 9600GT connecting to my hdtv via hdmi cable..

Why is it that when I play this file w/media player it doesn't play with subtitles? I ask this because it plays so much better w/media player on my system. Just no subs.

People need to realize that 1920x1080 needs A LOT of video and processor power to run smoothly. If the video is slow, go download a lower quality rip. Those little 1gb rips will still look good on 99% of computer monitors (not really great on big screen TVs, though).

You are right, the Divx rips are good enough if u watch 17"/24" but everything above that its better to have the higher res versions. anyways i assume if u have a highres tv/monitor that you also have a good pc cause nobody uses highres screens for a pentium 4 xD

How come it plays "so much better" with WMP? WMP sucks to play movies with honestly... Try using VLC and then click "V" on your keyboard, this obviously only works when the .srt(sub file) file is in the same directory and has the exact same name as the .MKV
