just a word for the newbs. padded files are easy to get rid of just choose "SELECT NONE" when the torrent first comes up to start the download then just recheck the boxs next to the files you want.
padding files arent always added by the uploader in my understanding some torrent sites add them when the file is uploaded to punish anyone NOT downloading it from the site it was uploaded to directly. but i could be wrong. you could all be a figment of my imagination...

Padding files are added by the torrent CLIENT not the site the torrent is uploaded to. The point is to make sure the size of each file is a multiple of the torrent's piece size. They are not necessary and may be ignored (as Gothiq1 mentioned, just uncheck the padding files and download the rest )
