Titled as The Flight Commander but listed as The Dawn Patrol. This is not the 1928 version. I'm still trying to find that one. The story is about the young fliers 1915 in the Great War (WWI). The dialog is typical of the late 20s early 30s. It shows the agony of spirit of innocent young men at war for whom the glory is gone. It also shows the guilt of officers that care. This is a must have. Full screen, black and white, dvd rip, avi, this is very good quality considering how old the original was. You will like it. Please, please please! Can someone seed....an amazing movie I have been looking for in digital format for many yrs.
Had no idea it was also known as Flight Commander, or that there was a 1928 version as well?
Have seen the 1938 movie starring Errol Flynn, David Niven & Basil Rathbone as well.

As far as I can make out, there is not 1928 version. This film, starring Richard Barthelmess and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., was released in 1930 under the title Dawn Patrol. It was retitled as The Flight Commander when re-released later. The 1938 remake, starring Errol Flynn, Basil Rathbone and David Niven, was then called Dawn Patrol. This 1930 film is historically important. Only one problem - I can't download it as there are NO SEEDERS!

They're showing this one at MOMA on September 13-2014 Someone squeeze this one down to 700 megs or less from a good blu ray or at least criterion, and put it up again. We shouldn't have to endure the slow torture of more than one gig, when the squeezed version looks the same as the 1.37 gig version on a 55 inch HD set.
