Decent movie. Doesn't have any of the familiarity from the first one. The first one had such a great setting and characters. This one is, meh. Allright story, left alot of unanswered questions, which I like. Leaves room for interpretation.

Quality was good, but story was disappointing. All of that to find out that none of it matters to begin with? Come on. And it had none of the same familiarities as the original Donny Darko had. Go watch southland tales. That's another huge disappointment. Just my thoughts/

DVD quality video and audio.

Just to make money? Are you fucking retarded? It went straight to DVD/Blu-ray and it didn't even gross more than the 4 million dollar budget - which is like nothing compared to other movies btw. The fact that Chris Fisher did what he did with the budget is pretty damn good. And the sister is the original from the first one and they manage to fill in a plot that doesn't require any of the old cast - definitely worth watching guys.

Thoroughly enjoyable adjunct to DDarko. Didn't realise the original actor reprises her role as Samantha. This a low budget indie flick in all senses of the word. The Sparrow connection is sheer genius. Had my doubts but after relaxing into the imagery & lowering my initial expectations its actually a little gem. DDarko fans should definitely give this a go, despite the poor reviews. Make up your own mind...follow your water. The homage to Lynch was also very nice & subtle. Great direct to video. Only let down was the soundtrack was not on par with DDarko, but I guess they just couldn't afford the rights. Saying that though did love the closing track!!! Props to Fischer et al. DDarko's a hard act to follow.

I'd rather let some inject sulfuric acid into my nether regions than admit to myself that this was in any way shape or form the actual sequel to Donnie Darko. It wasn't even of a quality on par with those really bad, late night, b-rate sci-fi channel only movies. At least they have the decency to be comically bad. They did well getting Samantha to return, the cinematography wasn't bad at all, and the music was decent but this must be most poorly written movie I've seen in at least ten years and I've seen better acting from porn stars. I wanted to like it so badly but just couldn't. I only finished it out of the same morbid curiosity that makes you slow down to get a better look at car accidents. I only hope they do either a decent prequel or sequel to DD some day to make up for this so I can pretend it never happened. thanks to the uploader, but a gigantic boo to the studio and director for creating this piece of shit film.

I think Donnie Darko was one of those movies that was good on accident.
Y'know, sort of like 100th monkey kind of thing. A bunch of ass-hats were sitting around reading about market demographics and snorting coke and they woke up with a script for an incredibly poorly written horror movie. Except it turned out to be a ridiculously awesome movie in general.
Now they tried again. But this, I guess, is monkey #101.
Hollywood is amazing. Imagine a place where even the writer doesn't get the story.
