Description:

Those of us who grew up with these movies have fond memories of the 20 years that proceeded the "Special Edition" and then "DVD Edition." We are the ones who rail about how "Han shot first." If you are one of us, here's the version you grew up with. If you always wondered what we were all on about, check it out. This is the version that made history; spread it out, don't let it become merely a memory. THIS, is the timeless classic! Enjoy! DivX 6.0, 608 x 256, Millions MPEG Layer 3, Stereo, 48.000 kHz FPS: 23.98 Duration: 2:01:01.05 1977 (Not, I repeat NOT the 1997 Special Edition or the DVD) See also: http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/4809010/Star_Wars_Episode_V__The_Empire_Strikes_Back_(1980) http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/4809013/Star_Wars_Episode_VI__Return_of_the_Jedi_(1983)

you sir, are awesome

megatrends (2010-01-27)

Thanks for this, you did a nice job especially with the CC text on the image instead of under it.
When I saw these when they were originally released the text was on the movie itself like these are.
Nice work!

it actually has about 52 seeds as of writing this comment. Thanks a bunch uploader!

miketheratguy (2011-07-31)

God damn right Han shot first.
It's ironic that when I downloaded Booster's 6gb set of the same trilogy (2 gb for each film), someone posted a screenshot comparing these versions with his, which is what led me here: The differences in the screenshot looked pretty negligible.
No offense to Booster, who tried to give me a hand, but these copies are much more the size I need, and I was right: I compared firsthand. On my screen, to my eyes, his 6b set and stealthbanana's 2gb set are pretty much the same.
Anamorphic widescreen, crystal clear audio, and video that isn't going to get much better than this until (if ever) Lucas gives them a clean, LEGITIMATE restoration.
Thanks so much man. I ordered the laserdisc rips years ago and let my girlfriend keep them. I never thought I'd see these beauties again.

justWidle (2011-08-03)

These are the films I grew up with. Thank you so much stealth banana. I didn't think I would ever be able to these versions of the trilogy ever again. So damn happy my jaded heart is weeping with joy.

justWidle (2011-08-03)

if anyone's interested, I have a 2.05GB pack of these same films, all three of which came from the stealth banana. just felt it'd be a little easier on everyone if we had them altogether. A bit big I know, but it makes hunting them down less difficult.

blunts89 (2011-08-03)

i downloaded the file and i couldn't play it. it played a black screen on quicktime player for 4 seconds and ended...... do i need divx? what's the issue? please help. i'm still seeding btw.

viralencore84 (2011-08-30)

Star Wars forever!

JJJ-XXX (2011-10-30)

@justWilde Yes please! I love the original non-special-edition Star Wars movies and would love to see them again in high (well as high as we can get for now) quality. DivX is great, but better would be better.
Does anyone know if there are copies available anywhere to buy of the original trilogy on DVD or BR?

JJJ-XXX (2011-10-30)

I take that back, this is great quality. Thanks for the upload!
@XweAponX The Wiki page mentions the originals are available in the DVD box set as an 'added bonus'.

Amazing torrent! It's the real deal 10/10 Thank you.

harry_tuttle101 (2012-03-02)

Considering this was shot on 72mm 100,000 years ago:
V10
A10
The "Special" editions are only special if you mean "Short Bus" special.

harry_tuttle101 (2012-03-02)

As far as box office returns, it's clear that 4, 5, and 6, kicked the shit out of 1, 2, 1 and 3.
The first 3 (chronologically), stand on their own considering the audience. But the money tells all.

This English subtitle file seems to synch well:

being deaf, I always love me my subbies.

bunnyborg (2012-07-07)

Thank you, thank you! I showed a friend, 13 years younger than myself, the "new" version, trying to explain what was changed. Painful. Thanks for uploading the original!

therealdarklight1138 (2012-08-17)

George fell to the Darkside.
He actually spoke at length about how important it was for Han to shoot first to show he wasn't the 'good guy' on a PBS special about Joseph Campbell. Seriously...
Han shoots first ...
HAN SHOOTS FIRST!
His mama didn't raise no fools. lol.
Thanks for this.
:D

this makes me happy

shmimbadad (2012-09-25)

Thank you so much for this. These movies need to live on in their original forms. What Lucas has done to them is criminal, and should be treated as such. He's a terrible human being, and the world would be better off now if he had died in the mid 80s, right after Return of the Jedi came out. I'm extremely happy that I still have my 1990 VHS box set of the Original Trilogy, with no alterations except for the THX remastered sound, and the full title in the opening crawl of A New Hope (rather than just "Star Wars"). One of these days, I'm going to get those transferred to digital, then find a way to safely store the tapes, so they don't melt away in 30 years or so (like George Lucas is happily hoping that they will). Until then, these will do. Thank you so much.

shmimbadad (2012-09-25)

Oh, and as for the actual quality of the downloads. Just downloaded and tested all 3. Pretty much as good as can be expected for the original movies, in original format. Video certainly isn't HD quality, but it's not any worse than anyone could expect (actually I think a little bit better than my VHS copies). Audio is perfect. I noticed, playing with Windows Media Player, all three have a very slight off-sync between audio and video, but not enough to really be a problem, and when played with VLC, it went to barely even noticeable. Again, thank you for these amazing, UNALTERED, classic films.

sep1984 (2012-10-11)

great upload. thanks mistypaw for the sub.

Thank you for this!

coltonpiratetpb (2013-07-11)

May the force be with you, stealthbanana.

coltonpiratetpb (2013-08-29)

Do you mind if you can do the 1997 Special Edition, stealthbannana? It's almost extinct on the internet these days.

Teslatoon (2014-05-23)

Anyone notice just after Darth Vader kills Obiwan, you can see Vader walking towards the closing blast doors in the background behind the Millenium Falcon.. He is holding a broomstick instead of a light saber. That's in the original, undoctored 1977 version.
