got this installed in Ubuntu Gutsy, here's the breakdown of what i had to do...
sudo apt-get install ksh
sudo ksh setup.sh
after it's installed.. when trying the update, it fails, so do this:
cd
sudo rm loki_patch
wget
chmod +x loki_patch
cd ../../../
sudo sh update.sh
after that, it runs, but i had a problem with permissions for the conig files... so make sure you have write-access to your ~/.loki/ directory and all sub directories .. then it works flawlessly! =)

I use the full screen argument: .../path_to_the_game/heroes3 -f
but running always in windowed mode. :(

Heroes 3 Install
Extract and mount the iso, depending on your set up you might need to be root or use sudo to mount the iso.
bzip2 -d HMM3-Linux.iso.bz2
mount -t iso9660 HMM3-Linux.iso /mnt/cdrom -o loop,ro

Install the game.
I will install the game as user in ~/Games/Loki (if you dont have that folder but want to install in it use command "mkdir -p ~/Games/Loki" )
Since i'm on an multilib 64-bit plattform i need to pass linux32 to set shell to 32-bit (check with command "arch" and it should show i686 or something like that), if your not useing 64bit then you don't need that command.
If you use linux32 as a separate command you will get a 32-bit shell but if you run it together with a command it will only run that command as 32-bit.
cd /mnt/cdrom
linux32 sh setup.sh

Now the game should be installed
I can start the game with ~/Games/Loki/Heroes3/heroes3 or ~/Games/Loki/heroes3
Lets remove the binairy ~/Games/Loki/heroes3 since it will never be used.
rm ~/Games/Loki/heroes3

Let's update the game to latest version
First we check the installed version
~/Games/Loki/Heroes3/heroes3 --version

Now we start to apply the patch.
The heroes3-1.3.1a-unified-x86.run is in the download folder of this torrent, i recommend that you copy it to ~/Games/Loki/.

chmod +x
When we run the update script i will need full path so ~/Games/Loki/Heroes3 is /home/your_user/Games/Loki/Heroes3
