The best documentary ever made! Carl Sagan`s TV Mini-Serie Cosmos from 1980 is now on Blu-Ray, but hold your horses!!! it`s not in HD (and vill probably never be as most was recorded on SD video) it`s just all 7 NTSC DVD`s compiled to a single BD-50 disc (iso file) with a simple menu.
All 13 episodes are in FULL DVD-9 quality (no re-encode has been done) I also edit out all the idioticly inserted "10 years later" updates at the end of the episodes, and removed one audio track and all subtitles except the english.
This is version nr 3, there will not be another one!!!
Changes made between v1 and v2 is mostly in the subtitles, fixed some errors in the subs in episode 1 and 3 and removed the CC inserts in the text on all episodes, and a few other small changes.
Changes between v2 and v3 is very tiny, the end of episode 6 is a little better edited and one or two other fixes that nobody will ever notice.
But the edit cuts at the end of the episodes that had the "10 years later updates" is still not perfect, but I prefer this until a new DVD set comes out.
All 3 versions play perfect on my PS3 burned to a BD-RE 50GB disc, so you dont have to download this new one.
To tell the different versions apart
v1 .nrg file
v2 .img file, and slightly smaller in size then v1
v3 .iso file, and it`s the biggest file of the 3, but only a tiny bit!

this torrent is just a big empty archive. waste of time.stillgame (2011-01-24)
This is a blu-ray ISO so you will need a blu-ray player (hardware or Software) to read this. Windows will mount but won't show the contents of the image.wetmouse (2011-05-06)
"I also edit out all the idioticly inserted "10 years later" updates at the end of the episodes"First off, learn to spell. Second, don't edit stuff out that absolutely belongs there. This "10 year later" stuff updates the episode to make it less dated, you unrepentant moron! You have made a completely useless disc. Well done! And yes, don't waste your time (or more importantly: ours) with a version 4. You'd probably cut out the "idioticly inserted" English audio.

dont get this, stupid, he took out the 10 years l8er bitndjr (2011-05-13)
I have nothing against the 10 year later updates, but they should have been placed AFTER the end credits, as now it cuts the scen and music straight off!!! it`s a complete robbery to this great documentary and was not part of the original broadcast editing. But even if I wanted to keep them, there was not enough space on the blu-ray disc.
46.4 GB (49Â 909Â 858Â 304 byte) is VERY close to max what you can fit on a dual layer disc, some brand of BD-RE 50GB blanc discs dont even have enough room, and I did not want to compress the video or audio one bit!
By the way....The original 7 NTSC DVD ISO`s are 50.1 GB
Just take it or leave it, I dont force anyone to download anything.
...one more thing, some scenes have some judder when playing on a PC (I dont know why) but everything plays absolutely smooth on the PS3 or the Philips BDP2500 and probably other standalone blu-ray player as well

I really don't think that seeing it 'as it was actually broadcast' is valuable enough to remove the extra material added to make it less dated. The information is more valuable than the nostalgia. You actually learn something from information. Nostalgia is just emotional indulgence of little real value to anyone.namshub (2014-04-09)
For the love of everything that is, has been, and ever will be in this majestic universe, why, Why, WHY did you edit ANYTHING?You cut FOUR AND A HALF GBs of original content so, what, you wouldn't have to deal with the mighty, overwhelming burden of having COSMOS on TWO FUCKING BR DISCS?
I used to smoke crack, but even I have never had an idea that "idioticly" stupid.
As if needlessly applying your own hand to a masterpiece wasn't enough, you fucked it up! You complain that the "10 Years Later" segments cut off the scene and music - but admit your own inept edits "are not perfect".
Congratulations. Great job all around. You wasted a shitload of your own time for something almost nobody will use.
Search TPB for "Cosmos" and list by size.
Oh, wow, what a surprise! Out of the top 10 English language versions, this torrent has the fewest seeders - ONE lonely soul! At least there's only three leechers wasting their and that one seeder's bandwidth.
Hey, at least nobody has to deal with the never-ending time commitment and tremendous expense of burning and playing a second disc, right?
PS: Listing this as "Carl Sagan's Cosmos Blu-Ray" when it's actually the DVDs ripped, compiled, and - most importantly - RECKLESSLY EDITED, ALL BY YOURSELF, to FIT onto a BR disc is another really shitty move.
PPS: I'm not trying to be an asshole, despite doing a great impression of one. Editing content and improper listing are among the worst scourges of TPB, and P2P in general.
They must be ruthlessly opposed and driven out without mercy, banished and made to perish in the digital wastes.
(Not the people - that'd be mean - just the behaviors.)
