The current version doesn't support VP7 natively but if you download and install the codec from the link included it will play in any video player including VLC

Well about Mac and VP7. I noticed on the on2 homepage that Apple is one of their key customers. I don't have an answer to why it's not compatible with Macintosh, but keeping in mind that they are one of their so called "key customers", i'd say they should be compatible soon. Hopefully.

Linux users can convert one of these 'VP7' files to a VLC-playable AVI file with this one-liner:
mencoder somesourcevideo.avi -oac copy -ovc xvid -xvidencopts pass=1 -o /dev/null && mencoder somesourcevideo.avi -oac copy -ovc xvid -xvidencopts pass=2:bitrate=950 -o destinationvideo.avi
Change 'somesourcevideo.avi' and 'destinationvideo.avi' to the input and output files respectively. Requires 'mencoder' to be installed. For batch processing, see the script on this page:

I can't understand why so many always upload files in formats nobody has ever heard of, and for which you need to download this and that.
Why not just upload it as avi, mpeg or divx.
Nonetheless I downloaded the codec and now it works, but it would have been easier if it was playable right away, without downloading codecs.

I tried the Vp7 w/ Crossover, through VLC, QT, Divx, 3ivx, Mplayer osx 1 & 2 and a Divx Converter, nothing works.

quality isnt too bad, but this rare codec did not work in vlc 8.6, so i was forced to use wmp, which im not a big fan of
getting another copy now, and if the quality is decent enough ill trash this one

Seriously, this works on absolutely nothing besides a Windows machine with this specific proprietary codec installed. No Macs, no Linux, hell, none of my media center players will play these & they play fucking EVERYTHING. You do know that people watch videos on more things than a Windows PC dont you??

Hi...Linux will decode this if you have the codec the right package...I use mplayer and w32codec
Also, the files can be converted into anything you want.
Linux users use mencoder read docs and convert to xvid or whatever....
Others there must be a way to convert, prolly VLC or something....
