Description:
This is the Madagascar.720p.AC3 version that has been floating around with AC3 5.1. Excellent quality and audio. It has been converted from .mkv to .m2ts which now allows it to be played over a network, or downloaded to the harddrive, on the PS3 unlocking it's media abilities.
PS3 is unable to play .mkv. This conversion will allow all the luxeries of a regular disk. By using the .m2ts container you are now able to play, pause, FF, and RW from the comfort of your chair.
Of course you can still play it with PC as well :D

It sucks that the PS3 is such an incredible media machine yet the hi-res movies are unable to be played. You can download this to your computer, or media server, and let the PS3 play it over the network. The PS3 plays these files beautifully and you can't beat the blue-tooth controll.Mr.Fubar (2008-12-09)
Sorry for upload speed. Internet doesn't upgrade until the 11th. Please seed.Hatx0r (2008-12-09)
AVC/H.264 in an MPEG2 Transport Stream (if the extension is accurate) is quite an amusing abuse of the specification. I approve.Mr.Fubar (2008-12-09)
A PS3 is a complete media package. It's gaming abilities are very nice but it's integration with everything is superior. I'll put a "nice video card" against the PS3 anyday. For $400 you get a complete multimedia machine. I'd like to see you build a computer that can handle what the PS3 can for anywhere near $1k.I personally turned my desktop into a server. It runs headless in a closet using windows home server. I put everything I have on it and it streams all the meadia wirelessly to my PS3. I still have my gamining PC that talks to it as well but there's simply no replacing the PS 3 when it comes to media abilities. It's smaller, quieter, and more powerful.

He's got a point. The PS3's GPU is a cut down version of the Geforce7900 (the G71), the CPU is remarkably weak on most tasks...But a well built PC which is silent, like the one I have here, is not cheap. I specifically built this thing as a HTPC and it set me back £850 without OS or monitor.
The PS3, as noisy and underspecced as it is, does make a pretty decent, if stupidly expensive, Blu-Ray player and, like the 360 (though not as well) can stream certain limited media formats from an SMB network server.
Mr.Fubar (2008-12-10)
The actual CPU and GPU on the PS3 aren't what makes it good or bad. The actual GPU and CPU are extremely powerful because they are dedicated. The developer softwaremeans that the tasks are specific for that cpu. it's not like a desktop. The unit is not made to be a desktop. It's made to do what it does. To be a media machine. It's not very expensive compared to other blu-ray plaers. Essentially the PS3 is nothing short of amazing. It's very cheap, has greatmedia abilities and is extremely powerful. Look at it doing folding@home.Mr.Fubar (2008-12-10)
I should ask that if streaming this to your PS3 you'll need Tversity which is another program that is free and works great.Hatx0r (2008-12-10)
They're not "dedicated", development work is done using normal tools using normal game engines which exist on PC and 360.If you want to compare folding@home scores, you'll be pleased to see the PS3 being obliterated by any decent CUDA machine. Not bad for the price, but that's probably not why you bought it ;-)

STREAM too PS3 SUCK PUT EVERYTHING IN EXTREN HARDDISK . AND PLUGIN USB .patrikzidane (2008-12-12)
streaming beats any kind of storage! just put it on your computer (as you would anyways) and just start the ps3 and you are done.. with storage you have to copy it, turn it off, take everything with you to the ps3, plug it in, boot up and when you are done you have to redo if you just downloaded something new.. with streaming its instant and do extra hardware is neededpatrikzidane (2008-12-12)
it should be "no extra hardware" in the endvargalac (2008-12-27)
This is for Mr.Fubar,Just a quick question, please. I have a PS3 and an imac, can you recommend any program for streaming
thanks
