Description:

FIXED! First 2.2 upload got screwed up. Sorry! ***Seven new additions! See the changelog below*** ***If you're a fan of the genre, leave a comment and/or give a Quality point!*** Welcome, fellow post-apocalyptic readers! Here is version 2.2 of the my collection. I take no credit for any scanning or whatnot, just compilation and conversion to HTML when appropriate. Contained in this collection: Adams, John Joseph (ed) - Wastelands - Stories of the Apocalypse Aldiss, Brian - Greybeard Aldiss, Brian - Hothouse Anderson, Poul - Vault of the Ages Atwood, Margaret - Oryx and Crake Atwood, Margaret - The Handmaid's Tale Ballard, JG - The Drowned World BeauSeigneur, James - Christ Clone Series Brackett, Leigh - The Long Tomorrow Brin, David - The Postman Brunner, John - The Sheep Look Up Budrys, Algis - Burning World Budrys, Algis - Some Will Not Die Butler, Octavia - Parable of the Sower Butler, Octavia - Parable of the Talents Card, Orson Scott - The Folk of the Fringe Christopher, John - The Death of Grass (AKA No Blade of Grass) Crace, Jim - The Pesthouse Crowley, John - Engine Summer Dick, Philip K - Dr Bloodmoney or How We Got Along After the Bomb Dickson, Gordon - Wolf and Iron Disch, Thomas - The Genocides DuPrau, Jeanne - The City of Ember England, George Allan - Darkness and Dawn Florman, Samuel - The Aftermath Frank, Pat - Alas, Babylon Galouye, Daniel - Dark Universe Goonan, Kathleen Ann - Nanotech Series Herbert, Frank - The White Plague Hoban, Russell - Riddley Walker Huxley, Aldous - Ape and Essence James, P.D. - The Children of Men Kearny, Cresson - (Non Fiction) Nuclear War Survival Skills Kornbluth, CM - The Syndic Laumer, Keith - Catastrophe Planet Leiber, Fritz - Gather, Darkness! London, Jack - The Scarlett Plague Matheson, Richard - I Am Legend McCammon, Robert - Swan Song McCarthy, Cormac - The Road McDevitt, Jack - Eternity Road McIntyre, Vonda - Dreamsnake Merle, Robert - Malevil (Non English) Merril, Judith - Shadow on the Hearth Miller, Walter - St Leibowitz and the Wild Horse Woman Miller, Walter - A Canticle for Leibowitz Niven, Larry - Lucifer's Hammer Norton, Andre - Daybreak 2250 AD Norton, Andre - No Night Without Stars O'Brein, Robert - Z for Zachariah Palmer, David - Emergence Pangborn, Edgar - Davy Roshwald, Mordecai - Level 7 Sheffield, Charles - Aftermath 1 - Aftermath Sheffield, Charles - Aftermath 2 - Starfire Shiel, MP - The Purple Cloud Shelley, Mary - The Last Man Shute, Nevil - On the Beach Simak, Clifford - Cemetary World Smith, Mitchell - Snowfall Series Stewart, George R - Earth Abides Stirling, SM - Change Series Tucker, Wilson - The Long Loud Silence Tucker, Wilson - The Year of The Quiet Sun Varley, John - Millennium Wells, HG - World Set Free Wharton, Edith - False Dawn Wilhelm, Kate - Where Late the Sweet Birds Sang Williams, Walter - The Rift Wylie, Philp & Balmer, Edwin - When Worlds Collide Wylie, Philp & Balmer, Edwin - After Worlds Collide Wyndham, John - The Chrysalids Zelazny, Roger - Damnation Alley Keep in mind that a few of these titles aren't exactly post-apocalyptic (meaning that a major event hasn't wiped out most of the planet or humankind), but they do follow the theme to a degree. For example, John Brunner's "The Sheep Look Up" tells the story of an overly-polluted Earth and its effects on mankind. Admittingly, I haven't read all of these, but I do recommend Walter Smith's "A Canticle for Leibowitz" and Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" if you haven't dove into the genre before. More to come!....once I find them. If you find anything from John Joseph Adams' list (link below) and I don't have it here, email it to [email protected] /* */ Include what name you wish to be thanked by. FAQ: Q: So, what do I need to start reading? A: The eBooks are in different formats, so you may need a couple of programs. Foxit Reader is great for PDFs and your web browser of choice can read the *.html, *.rtf, and *.txt files. Q: Some of these aren't formatted too well. A: What do you want for free? Go buy the actual book. You're missing the 'Autumn' series, which is a great zombie apocalypse series of novels. The first one is being made into a movie right now or may even be out already.

GerardOfUtah (2009-02-18)

I'm trying to avoid anything zombie related. Although I haven't looked into it, I imagine there is enough material out there for a collection, though.

alexkhype (2009-03-04)

Thank you so much for this collection! I really loved that the zip was so small, yet so complete.

rreuben (2009-03-09)

Wow... great collection.

revzeb (2009-03-20)

Very nice! Huge fan, have tracked down lots of these, but haven't been able to get my hands on most of them!
THANK YOU!

myrrdrin (2009-04-01)

Have you ever seen the Ashes series by William Johnstone and thought of uploading it?

GerardOfUtah (2009-04-02)

myrrdrin:
I looked for the complete Ashes series some time ago and came up with very little. I just did a search on another site and came up with books 1 - 33. From what it looks like, this series would fit perfectly in with the collection. Great suggestion!
If anyone else has any suggestions, please post them!

auturo (2009-04-05)

Awesome! Now I have incentive to get an ebook reader!

auturo (2009-04-05)

(PS Thanks for uploading :D:D)

GerardOfUtah (2009-06-04)

RavenVanya,
I imagine that I would, but I'm not looking for additional books as heavily as I used to. I'll probably post one more update and call it a day. What is here should keep everyone busy for a while, though. :)

biotech9 (2009-07-05)

great upload!

sinx2 (2009-09-01)

You should put in the Autumn series, they're good.
Otherwise, good torrent, tnx.

maniaq77 (2009-09-08)

I would say The Penultimate Truth would be a better one from Phil Dick - it's one of my favourites and has a cheeky kind of humour to it...
great collection, tho!

original_jawz (2009-09-14)

Punkristo (2009-12-14)

The Swarm by Frank Schätzing
Ausgebrannt (in german) by Andreas Eschbach (English translation maybe)?
I'm interetesed in post-peak-oil kind of books. Any good book of this kind in the torrent?

angelotero (2010-11-29)

thanks for the d/l will seed 500mb before i shut her down thanks alot...

fuckkkkk (2011-01-11)

You should really clarify that most of the files in here are simply links to a website with nothing but text.

GerardOfUtah (2011-02-12)

Wow, this torrent is still going. I sorta forgot about it.
For those complaining that you are getting a bunch of link in the torrent, I don't know what to tell you. I doubt 25 (as of this posting) people would be seeding a torrent full of crap. Get your computer checked out, I guess.
I don't have a decent internet connection to update this torrent right now, but that may change in the future.

namal817 (2012-02-15)

EDfromRED (2013-06-25)

I was looking forward to reading Aldiss, Brian - Hothouse, but I did not see it in the files I downloaded in your torrent.
Despite that disappointment, fantastic selection!

SySm1K (2014-01-04)

I wish to express my gratitude to you, Gerard, for compiling such an amazing collection of books!
This really is a "treasure box", like stepping into an old cellar full of wonders :)
Cheers

tapavutatete (2014-08-18)

Thanks a lot for the list - a few additions for posterity :
- René Barjavel's "Ravage" & "La nuit des temps" - imho the list couldn't be complete without one of his works
- José Saramango's "Blindness - What's left of society when everybody goes blind
- Stephen King's "The Strand" - A virus kills almost everybody... no not a zombie novel
- William R. Forstchen's "One second after" - Poorly written, manichean, macho, basically flawed in every respect BUT the chillingly realistic depiction of the aftermath of an EMP

tapavutatete (2014-08-18)

... and sorry just forgot :
- W. Strieber's "Warday" - A documentary-like account of a nuclear war between The red evil and the land of the fried.

judy555 (2014-11-14)
