you can play this great game in multiplayer to, its awesome, but you need 2 things to play online:1. after download, patch the game to 1.4.2 from here:

So what to do ?
1. Install quake 4. Even pirated one from piratebay.
2. Install patch 1.4.2.
3. Use any licensed cd-key which usually comes with that pirated cd's
For example mpjg-x7j7-777c-777f-777 (easy to remember)
4. Play !!!! Any server! It allows! I've tested it now on a lot of servers
5. Optionally you will need q4max 0.82

This is great mod, so install it as well. And play when needed.
P.S. Guys who released that 1.4.2 crack are really without brains. What to crack if all removed ? By the way while it do allow to play on very small amount (cause it's cracked file which will not run any q4mp 1.4.2 games) of usual servers it not even allow to play q4max ones, don't allowing downloads of files!!!! It sucks 100% decebal kill yourself!!!!

Hey people, I just wanted to say that decebal01us' info didn't work out for me, because the crack for the patch 1.4.2 isn't working.If you want to play online, you'll need the patch, and than you've got no crack. So just use the keygenerator found in the torrent. You might need to use it a few times, that was my case anyway. After trying out a few different cd-keys it works out..
Also download the mod q4max 0.82, I managed to play on some servers with it when I couldn't enter the game because of the missing cd key.
