Completed this game 100% after 4 bloody years!
No glitches on Windows 8 until Year 3 Level 6: The Dark Tower. The game now freezes when hitting the flames to melt both sides of the door even in co-op. It is impossible to pass the door without a trainer, you can download this one:

Download and run the trainer then run the game. Push F12 to activate the trainer then in the level push F4 to activate Super Jump then push F2 to activate co-op. Have Hermione stand in the corner right of the silver locked door with the Demetor tormenting the student in peril. Have Harry climb the ledge to the iced door then stand on the very edge of the ledge next to the flame. You must not see the ice, if you see it when you hit the flame the game will freeze. Hit the flame and quickly jump left off the ledge. You will hear someone sneezing and the ice melting. Climb back up on the ledge with Harry then get rid of the Dementor, open the chest and use Special (NOT ACTION!) to repair the flame. DO NOT HIT THE FLAME BUT MAKE NOTE OF ITS POSITION!. Super jump from the chest to the lamp above it. While standing on the lamp make sure you can't see the ice and then aim action to the position of the flame. Harry will hit it and the ice will melt. DO NOT GET OFF THE LAMP UNTIL YOU HEAR THE DOOR OPENING!
No problems with the pink gargoyle/bird breaking the glass.
