As a former history teacher, I have always found it fascinating that so many people are constantly quoting from famous and influential books (Mein Kampf, Das Kapital, The Bible), but the number of people who have actually bothered to READ them is tiny, and the ones who can claim to have STUDIED them is absolutely infinitesimal. Rather than comment on politics or racism, let me just say that (whatever your personal political views), it is amazing that a book as disjointed, pedantic, or badly written as this could have had the positive effect on the NSDAP that it did. I recall reading a biography on Hitler once that noted this book was one of the most purchased and least read books of all time. In any event, it is a hugely important historical document, and trying to find a decent audio quality English-version is no easy trick. I found this copy on a private tracker with only a few seeders, and since I believe in freedom of ALL information, it seemed appropriate to give it a wider audience. My guess is that very few people are going to be able to get through this tangled morass of bad grammar and pompous rhetoric, even if they happen to agree with the twit. The history and textual explanations at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mein_kampf are very well done by way of a study aid, and I couldnâ??t help including this tidbit about the extent to which the book is still banned: The government of Bavaria, in agreement with the federal government of Germany, does not allow any copying or printing of the book in Germany and opposes it also in other countries but with less success. Owning and buying the book is legal. Trading in old copies is legal as well unless it is done in such a fashion as to â??promote hatred or warâ??, which is, under anti-revisionist laws, generally illegal. In particular, the unmodified edition is not covered by §86 StGB that forbids dissemination of means of propaganda of unconstitutional organizations, since it is a â??pre-constitutional workâ?? and as such cannot be opposed to the free and democratic basic order, according to a 1979 decision of the Federal Court of Justice of Germany.[7] Most German libraries carry heavily commented and excerpted versions of Mein Kampf. Elsewhere in the world, the situation is as follows: Translated into Arabic, the book has been widely distributed in the Arab world from the 1930s to the present. In the Czech Republic, Mein Kampf was first sold in the Czech lands in 1936, and again in 1993, both times in abridged, annotated versions. In March 2000, the full Czech edition was published by Otakar II. I am still a student, and former teacher, OF history. If I had my way, there is a long list of books EVERYONE would be required to read and study.
I have little worry that anyone will read this tripe and decide to put on a swastika and leather shorts and invade Poland. It is an important historical document. Read (or listen) firsthand. Even a modern day skinhead will come away thinking "this guy is a pompous, BORING jackass." There is no need for me to offer arguments against Nazism, especially in a forum as tiny and meaningless as the comment section of a torrent tracker. I simply believe that nobody should ever be afraid of firsthand data. If Satan wrote a book, I think we should be allowed to read it for ourselves. We've all heard of Hitler and the war - read his book and decide about his ideas for yourself.
I've taught about the war for over 10 years, and *I'VE* never made it all the way through this book. I've tried many times. It's like drinking shoe polish. Maybe that's why evil has so much success; it can be so damned boring.

Unless the name Gustavus Adolphus or the 30 years war is relevant to the conversation, Sweden doesn't tend to come up at all. Keep in mind for the various 'Holy books' (bible, et al) that not only are there various versions, but both religious and nonreligious scholars would agree that without commentary you miss a lot of the critical context and nuance. There are alos a LOT of mistranslation problems. Personally, I suck at math, so while I could read a book on calculus, that wouldn't be the same as if I had taken a course with a teacher and homework problems. As Marilyn Vos Savant once said; listening to an audiobook is not the same as reading it, and reading it is not the same as studying it.

thanx rambam, i think this is a great book to read/listen to, to really understand what was going on in this blokes head is to understand why so many died(i hope). something i never understood is how a country went from not buying jewish goods to full scale genocide, and to think this only happened reletivly recently, in the developed world is madness, hitler would be one of my ideal dinner party guests, just so i could ask, "why?"

The Torah is simply the first five books of what Christians call the Old Testament. The closest English translations would be the Maoretic text or the NIV. I would avoid King James purely because he changed so much of it. In any event, I do not have an audiobook version, but there are no shortages of them as torrents. Just look for the OT.

The mere fact that this work is forbidden in so many places, that it is sabotaged, semi-forbidden and badmouthed by governments, laws and last, but certainly not least, by Jews everywhere, makes it interesting. It is not forbidden or punishable to claim that the Earth is flat, that human races don't exist and are nothing but "social constructs", that parents should have sex with their children and house pets (feminist Andrea Dworkin), but if you publicly doubt the Holocaust, you're pretty much fcuked. I've read some of Mein Kampf and found that there was nothing particularly odd with its style. Hitler wrote the way authors wrote in his time. Also, in Mein Kampf Hitler makes some interesting predictions, which have turned out true. Like the one that "even if the Jews get a homeland of their own, most will choose to not live in it".
By presenting this book as boring, the uploader tries to have his cake and eat it at the same time. Supposedly he's for free speech, but at the same time he makes sure to dissuade you from listening to this audio-book. By throwing in a piece of "innocent" information, that Mein Kampf is "boring", which he surely must know bears the lion's share in anyone's decision whether to listen to it or not, he makes sure that 99% of the people choose to not listen to it.
A friend of mine had a shelf full of DVDs marked with "political debates" and " economy debates", just to dissuade his kids and everyone else from touching them. Cause the DVDs in fact contained porn. He knew that it was more effective to mark the DVDs with labels indicating "boring" than to lock them in. The kids never touched his porn.
A book that sort of preceded Mein Kampf by several centuries was written by another famous German, Martin Luther. It's title pretty much says it all; "The Jews And Their Lies". It has not yet been banned, so hurry up and find it on the Internet before it does.

No question that Hitler was pure evil. However, he was not inept and that is why I am fascinated by this madman. We can learn a few things from this book, such as what did he ever write to get a whole country behind him after WWI. If Hitler would of succeeded, I would not be here. If America would of not won the war, I would not be here. Yet I feel that pure evil still lurks in governments and people are more oblivious to this fact more than anytime in history. This is more obvious to people from countries that are abused, raped, and economically enslaved by the present empire that is the United States of America. For my part, Hitler had a very arrogant tone and his artistic style came through in many of his views; he was so categorical and spoke in such broad strokes. The book was not nearly as boring as everyone says it is though, but audio makes it much easier for me. Thanks again.

Thank you seeders! Reading Mein Kampf and understanding the collapse of the Weimar Republic and the rise of hitler is of critical importance in the US today because of the rise of the Tea Party and the religious freedom/discrimination/morality that they tout. As far as I know, there is no audiobook version. Maybe because it's 63 books and comprises over 6,200 pages? It's available at any decent library, there's a Dummie's Guide, and there are websites all over the 'Net devoted to it.
I also uploaded a video documentary about it 5 years ago.

The Talmud is a massive (and BORING!) collection of commentaries on ancient laws. No more, no less. If the Bible is the US Constitution, the Talmud is the US code and collected court decisions. You wanna read it? Go nuts. Religious Jews do it in a cycle that takes 7 years.
