To those crowing that they knew all along, like 'stu' above, or are still harbouring ulterior motives for the BBC, consider the number of shock allegations since. Also consider what those who now say 'I knew it' actually said at the time - that he was a pedophile (technically untrue, though abusing adolescents is just as bad), or more commonly, that he was a recluse or a repressed gay. I was hoping for the latter, and there was precedent here, with e.g. the lovely Kenneth Williams and Larry Grayson.
