Recent college graduate Herman Schumacher has just taken up residence in an apparently great house with apparently great roommates. But all is not well. Why did the roommate Herman replaced leave all of his stuff behind, as though he never really left? And why do the rest of the roommates "assume" he joined a cult? And why is there a makeshift tombstone with his name on it in the backyard? And what's the deal with the monster that's stealing Herman's socks and living in a giant labyrinth under the house? It seems the whole movie was made over a weekend but that doesn't stop it from being one the funniest films I've ever seen. The plot revolves around a world historian who digs holes for a living, a serial killer who buries people in his garden, a guy who calls himself Charteuse, a hairy monster who lives in the basement and likes to steal socks & an 'energetic' girlfriend. The dialogues are insane. The 'acting' is superb. How the hell did the actors manage to keep a straight face throughout baffles me. This movie is a gem but sadly such films rarely get the praise they deserve. I hope the movie reaches a larger audience.
