While it's not critical to have read them in order to get the point of the movies, there are certain things that they've changed or left out. If you want a full appreciation of the series...read the books too. Books are usually better anyway.

Use Nero and dvd data burning to burn all 5 movies to DVD.
If u want to add any subtitles, then go for example www.opensubtitles.org - Download subtitle - exctract to folder where is the movie - rename the subtitle same as the movie and .sub or .srt after it.

So apparently the new movie that was suppose to come out in November has now been pushed back to July 2009, because Warner Bros thinks it can make more money from a summer release, and because of the writers strike too. The movie is finsihed, post production is finished. We just have to wait 8 more months for the next movie.......I'm so pissed.
